All I want is a lunchbox...

... for ds, now is that TOO much to ask? I sent dh to Croydon to get one today; he trawled all the usual suspects, ELC, Mothercare, Woolworths, etc. they had NOTHING, or 'something in pink'! He found a Buzz Lightyear one in the Disney Store but at £15 (!) - no thanks...

We need to get one for Tuesday, does anyone have any ideas? I'd preferably like one without Thomas the Tank/Action Man/Beyblades, etc. plastered all over it but as a last resort anything will do!

I would try a supermarket but phone them up first and ask them.

Try a camping shop. I found a very restrained one in Touchwoods in Oxford in plain blue, with a separate compartment for sandwiches at the bottom. Everywhere else, all I could find were bubble-gum pink ones with naff fairies on them. Looks like a gap in the market for someone to exploit.

carla · 20/02/2004 22:33

What do you want, jodee. Mum and sis live a spit away from Selfridges in Oxford Street, so name it if you can. She'll get it for you!

carla · 20/02/2004 22:39

Have I found .... another Oxford Mumsnetter???

OldieMum · 20/02/2004 22:41

Yes. I wondered whether I was the only one.

Debbiethemum · 20/02/2004 22:41

I have also seen them in John Lewis, either primary colours or sophisticated back/grey in plastic and with a water bottle.
Can't remember how much, but I got one for my packed lunch at work - reminder make packed lunch to take to work.

OldieMum · 20/02/2004 22:53

carla · 20/02/2004 22:58

Grrrr (sad at not being at same school) North. St Aloysius RC, Woodstock Road. You?

jodee · 20/02/2004 22:59

Thanks for all the replies! I've been trawling the net and like the look of the snazzy ones on this site ...Carla, that's such a kind offer - thank you ... I'll give some of the stockists listed here a go and if no joy can I get back to you please? (John Lewis is mentioned, which is maybe a spit and a half away from Selfridges!)

Have you got a Lakeland Limited by you. If not, you can buy one from their site. Customer Service is excellent and will probably deliver by Monday. I think www.lakeland.co.uk (or similar).

Kayleigh · 21/02/2004 11:49

I bought a cheap plain one for ds1 and he decorated it with some football stickers from Woolies costing £1. He loves it and it's the only one of its kind in the lunch box rack - so very easy to identify (there must be at least 6 spidermen lunchboxes)

melsy · 21/02/2004 11:53

A friend told me that similar ones to Polar gear cooler boxes are available in Asda and quite cheap £4-5?? Good for baby food etc. Boots have similar to but £9-10.

miserlyzebra · 28/04/2004 14:12

Woolies, John Lewis, Mothercare and camping shops seem to be the suggestions, is that right?

But is that what little plastic lunchboxes cost, £5-£15? Yesterday when we stopped for lunch (between sessions) with DS's playgroup crowd, I was amazed to see that each and every child had a lunchbox. Now DS wants one, too, which seems ok by me as he can use it for school...but £5 is the most I want to spend, £3 would be nicer... Do I have to fork out so much?

Codswallop · 28/04/2004 14:12

lakeland

maisystar · 28/04/2004 14:16

bettys · 28/04/2004 14:19

Kayleigh · 28/04/2004 14:25
