AAARRGGHH!!! Reception in September: Uniform angst!

DD starts reception this year - she can't wait bless her - but as she runs very hot and is prone to eczema, I've been trying to get hold of 100% cotton uniform for her; and I'm trying now so I can get summer dresses before they change the stock for Autumn/Winter stuff.

Everything we've found so far - polo shirts from the school shop, dresses from M&S and John Lewis - is all cotton/poly mix at best, but mostly poly/viscose. She'll overheat and her skin will behave badly in those clothes

Am I going to find a green check summer dress in cotton or am I having a laugh here? Please help - I've tried googling, but, as usual, I'm throwing myself on your mercy and great wisdom.

I'm having enough trouble getting my head round my little angel venturing into the big bad world on her own, one less thing to worry about would really help me. TIA,

Bear

Poisson - c'est Mme Cod? Je n'ai su ca. Maintenant c'est tout a fait clair - considérez l'épellation. Bonsoir Poisson, ca va? Et merci pour votre contribution.

Anyway, can't keep that up for long. Thanks all for the input.

Poisson, while I'm on - I know I swore off the list thread for good reason, but I did find one today in Marksies - all "gifts for teachers" this and "Medised" and "Canesten" that, (so poss. a Mner); but last thing on the list was a belter: "Massage 4 husband".

I mean do they do those in M&S these days? Maybe she was nipping into a parlour in a less salubrious part of town on her way home for an IOU, or maybe (I'm backing this one) he'd added it on the end of her list for a laugh - the pen was the same, the handwriting could have been someone else's, all the rest was in lower case while this was in capitals. anyway, it tickled me while DD and DS were overheating/overacting. Sorry to hijack my own thread.

Foxinsocks thanks for the tipoff re the Poisson's identity, but also for the steer re the M&S dress - the only ones in our store today (and it's a huge store) were polyester/viscose so if all else fails I might try them online and see if we can get away with a high cotton percentage. It's awful - for the past 4 1/2 years I've been able to pick and choose and not veer from the one true cotton path but now society is boxing me (and DD) in and sacrificing her health and comfort in the name of order - I know I'm exaggerating, but it's a right PITA.

You guys rock as per.

carol3 · 03/07/2006 23:13

Just bought dd 3 new summer dresses for £2 each from asda.

carol3 · 03/07/2006 23:14

100% cotton

Furball · 04/07/2006 04:01

Tesco do 100% cotton polo shirts - 3 for £3!

KTeePee · 04/07/2006 11:31

Just to add that I was at M&S earlier and they are doing 3 for 2 on school clothes, if you want to be super-organised for next term.

Update - got several from Asda (Asdulls if you're from round here) - after trying 4 stores. They're cotton/poly but more cotton IYSWIM, also ordered some M&S ones which are more poly. But can take some or most back once we've seen how she gets on with them. Frankly if the Asda ones don't suit, at £1.75 each, they can go to the charity shop. If it all fails I'll go down the gingham/pattern/dressmaker route.

Thanks again for all your help.
