Which toy kitchens do you reccomend?

DD's 2nd birthday is coming up at the beginning of April and we are thinking of getting her a new toy kitchen, to replace the Little Tikes tiny toddler one she has. It is one of her favourite toys, along with all the teasets, food, etc.

What am I looking for?

  • Well, she likes the sound effects
  • I'd like it to be more of a longer one, rather than a circular type shape one
  • It has to fit discreetly behind my sofa in the living area, so ideally no taller than 85-90cm
  • Have a range of kitchen appliances to play with - not just a cooker
  • I want it to last her a while and not be broken or fed up with in the first few months
  • Not sure on price range - will see what comes up and take it from there; DH is pretty flexible when it comes to DD

So, mumsnetters - any recommendations, or ones to avoid? Any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance too.

Hulababy - there are some new wooden ones in the Jojomamanbebe catalogue I got yesterday -think they were quite pricey but maybe worth a look on their website?

DD had the star kitchen on Tamum's comment. Its a Chicco one and it has a fridge oneside and an oven the other. Nice noises and DD isn't tall enough to reach the platerack and grill-thing yet, so when she grows there will be more to play with!

Yeah, I know, DD has to tolerate the old ELC one too!! You can buy real Agas for less.

Hope you find something that'll keep everyone happy.

We got this one : Berchet Moulinuex kitchen

Got it at Toy World. Was £80 at Christmas, but got it for £49.99 this weekend. Really pleased with it and I know DD will love it. It even has an aroma pack for kitchen smells!!! And it is mostly hidden when behind the sofa too. Currently hidden at my brothers house until DD's birthday in 5 weeks.

Whilst on about this, I'd like to get DD a little toy kettle too to go with this - about the only thing she is missing now. Anyone know of a good one, that won't break straight away and possibly with sound effects?

Hulababy - what about This

Found this one at toysrus her but we've got a mini Philips one which was bought in France and I'm sure you could get similar in UK.

Ours (not noisy or bubbly) is made by a company called Klein who also do the mini Bosch tools. Mailorderexpress come up as a retailer on Google but can't access the website atm.
