What kind of paddling pool is best (rigid / pumped etc?)

School holidays have started and obviously looking for ways to amuse the kids. Ever hopefully of a hot summer I need ideas for a paddling pool. We used to have a so called rigid pool which ripped. It wasn't much good really as the sides were a bit floppy and water would come out. We also have a couple of tiny ones to blow up but they seem to have slow leaks.

Anyone got any ideas? Is it worth forking out for a good quality one or just get cheap ones I can replace when they break? Thanks.

would have to say a rigid one as when its bloody hot i can not stand there pumping it up in the heat with a rigid one just fold it out fill it up then get dp to empty it on the night or as i do use the water for watering my plants

And its bloody filthy being int he shed all year end up buying a new one every year and the rigid ones are cheap.

I got the rigid one shown in Tortoise link lasy yera lasted all summer with two very energetic boys. Far easier than a blow up thing.

At the end of the summer it did get ripped but by that time we weren't using it so much.

This year we have a very cheap blowup small paddling pool which the boys love just as much ---Its water !!! Conscious about using less water.

Haven't gone for a big one this year - if they impose a drought order in our area then I doubt whether we would be able to use it .

Thanks for the tips. The ocean one looks ideal. Was very hot here yesterday so we went to the beach but I am quite nervous as my ds tends to run into the sea.

There's a review of different paddling pools in the Observer today, if you've got the energy to go out and buy it.
