Would you buy an ex-display fridge freezer?

Have seen the one I want but useless cretins only have one left and it is £400 cheaper than I can get it anywhere else (is american one)

So do I pay the extra or would it really make no difference if it has been sitting in the shop to sitting in the warehouse?

Obv will check there is no visible damage

i would if its a big saving like you mentioned. do they switch display fridge freezers on?

you should still get the same guarentees and warrenties right?

CountessDracula · 26/06/2006 16:06

No never switched on. Yes same guarantees etc

as long as it still has the warranty and stuff it wouldn't be a problem....would it??

schneebly · 26/06/2006 16:07

I would.

flutterbee · 26/06/2006 16:08

Yes snap it up, all people do when they look at them is open and close the doors and if one falls off after you buy it it will be covered under warrenty. BARGAIN.

NotActuallyAMum · 26/06/2006 16:09

Yes - have done before. Got nearly £250 off list price, I'd definitely do it again

CountessDracula · 26/06/2006 16:10

Hmm I suppose so

More the irritation factor if it breaks I suppose, it would be such a PITA

Also am virtually allergic to buying stuff from Curry's but this is a bargain

Yes i would especially with a good saving like £400.

CountessDracula · 26/06/2006 16:10

Maybe I should ask for a free extended warranty

We bought an ex-display freezer from John Lewis about 8 years ago and it's still going strong.

melrose · 26/06/2006 16:13

Definitely, but whinge about it a lot and see if you can get the price down/ free delivery also search on kelkoo.co.uk to see what the cheapest is elsewhere to give you better bargaining power.

Tis end of the month so far likely to get a deal out of them as they have targets to hit! My Dad works in sales and always manages to get currys to bring their price down, normally getting them to match their online price in store.

pucca · 26/06/2006 16:13

My ex-landlord did, and we had no probs what so ever. He got it much much cheaper and all because it had a slight scrape mark on the side.

LadyTophamHatt · 26/06/2006 16:14

It could just a s easily break down if it wasn't ex display.

Buy it CD...before someone else does!

CountessDracula · 26/06/2006 16:20

I have researched, it is £400 cheaper than I can get it online! No idea why I think they have made a mistake or something.

Am off now to purchase and whinge and whine for England to get it for £1.50, believe me if there is a mark on it they will pay

(CD rummages in handbag for keys....)

We bought an ex-display one from currys and got £90 off it, have had no problems with it at all.

WideWebWitch · 26/06/2006 17:30

I just have done, it's fine so far. It was the only one they had.

TheLadyVanishes · 26/06/2006 19:39

get it now never pass up a bargain!

CountessDracula · 26/06/2006 22:40

hmm

It had a dent in the side that will show so I passed on it. Plus it had a couple of gouges out of the handles.
