Liz Earl Skincare? Not particularly impressed, anyone else?

I got this free (although had been planning on buying it) by subscribing to Red mag. I have used it a few times and feel the creams are verging on greasy, the spray has given me back my nervous twitch in my eye again and it all smells very strongly.

The only thing I am impressed with is the hot cloth business but if I had listened to the Mumsnet tip of the day the other week I could have got some muslins and just used my Olay.

I thought this stuff was supposed to be the business!

My mum swears by it but tbh I think Dermalogic is the best.
Liz Earle range is overrated I think-tho yes, the hot cloth is good.

MrsSpoon · 26/06/2006 13:32

Should add that my DH thinks my skin looks better and I probably would agree with him but I have noticed the beginnings of spot which I think is down to the greasyness of the moisturiser.

rabbitrabbit, how much is Dermalogic? They use that at the beauty salon I very infrequently visit and I am always terrified to ask how much they want for their skincare.

I use it and love it when I run out or use something else my skin looks dull. What is the spray?

Gillian76 · 26/06/2006 13:34

I just bought this about a month ago and quite impressed so far. I changed my moisturiser for the Skin Repair Light which seems to be better for my combination skin.

JackieNo · 26/06/2006 13:37

Have to say that I love it too. Might be worth trying the skin repair light, or even using the Smoothing line serum as a moisturiser - had it as a sample size, and being a serum, you literally only need a drop for each side of your face, IYSWIM, so it's very economical.

MrsSpoon · 26/06/2006 13:38

noddyholder it's the toner (although I don't think she calls it that) spray, it's not so much the spray as the cannister it is in, the type of spray it dispenses has me waiting anxiously waiting for it to splatter onto my face, not the gentle mist that is described.

Spray it on some cotton wool instead, and use it like a normal toner (it does usually come in a bottle, rather than a spray).

brum · 26/06/2006 13:40

Hello. The Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser is excellent and so are their moisturisers. I think the cleanser is about £30+
They do do a trial size pack for different skin types which is a great way to get to know their products-and you can pick these up on eBay for a song.

MrsSpoon · 26/06/2006 13:40

Ah, the Skin Repair Light looks like what I need.

OP posts:
Gillian76 · 26/06/2006 13:41

There is a toner in a normal bottle too. I like it

MrsSpoon · 26/06/2006 13:41

Blimey Brum, that's quite a price!

Snap. The trial size kits are great.
Have a look on www.dermalogica.com to get an idea of their range as well.

cupcakes · 26/06/2006 13:42

I have the toner in a bottle and it's really nice. Think that and the cleanser are excellent.

Gillian76 · 26/06/2006 13:42

Here we are agreeing again, cupcakes

MrsSpoon · 26/06/2006 13:43

Ahhh, toner in a normal bottle that's fab! Although I am now slightly grrrr that my 'free' gift has been as useful as it was supposed to be.

OP posts:
MrsSpoon · 26/06/2006 13:45

That should read hasn't been as useful...

OP posts:
Gillian76 · 26/06/2006 13:45

Not just a normal bottle...

The top twists to open a little hole at the top, so you don't have to screw the whole cap off.

Ingenious!

MrsSpoon · 26/06/2006 13:48

Still not sure about the smell though. Got into bed the other night and DH said, that's a bit heavy, he thought I'd been covering myself in perfume (probably thought it was his lucky night ).

OP posts:
Gillian76 · 26/06/2006 13:48

Hmmm... I quite like the smell.

JackieNo · 26/06/2006 13:49

Have to say, I've never really rated the toner. But love the cleanser, moisturiser, the roll-on superbalm serum, and the solid superbalm, oh and the shower gel. Addicted, moi?

Gillian76 · 26/06/2006 13:50

Is that the orange body wash, Jackie? Have been contemplating that as my next purchase...

JackieNo · 26/06/2006 13:51

It's lovely. I've been ordering from the Liz Earle website on and off for a few years now, and about 3 orders ago, they sent me a full size one as a thank you for being a good customer - I was a bit gobsmacked, but very pleased. And now I'm hooked. Do you think that was why they did it?

MrsSpoon · 26/06/2006 21:18

Oooh, need to get my switch card to stay firmly in my purse for the time being but will keep your recommendations in mind.

love liz earle stuff,I do use the moisturiser sparingly in the summer as my skin doesn't need it as much,I also use the light one

dh uses the men's stuff as his face was practically falling off,all chapped ,itchy red and rashy. His skin is loads better but he says the shaving cream isn't that good.
