anyone's little ones got one ?
how easy are they to use?

Don't bother! They break very easily, the screen is incredibly fragile and they charge £45 to replace it! Would only advise for older and very careful children.

Tinker · 25/06/2006 20:37

My 9 year old has one - loves it.

fairydust · 25/06/2006 20:37

no good for a 3 yr old then?

OP posts:
Tinker · 25/06/2006 20:38

Way too young.

sansouci · 25/06/2006 20:39

yikes! we gave a pink one (the colour was the deciding factor ) to dd for her birthday (she's 6) but it hasn't been opened it yet. Maybe I should take it back? Is an Advanced Game Boy better/more solid?

milward · 25/06/2006 20:39

My dd1 (8yrs) has one - with the dogs game on it. It's super & she has worked out all the functions. I always wonder if she'll lose the pen but she keeps it together with the case.

nutcracker · 25/06/2006 20:43

My brother has one FD and Dd1 plays on it and very occasionally dd2 but he won't let Ds play on it without him holding it for him so it must be too fragile. I certainly wouldn't let Ds have one.

Dd1 is having my brothers for her 9th birthday and she'll probably have broke it within months.

nutcracker · 25/06/2006 20:44

What about the Leapster ? Dd2 loves hers and Ds too so he is getting one for his birthday.

fairydust · 25/06/2006 20:45

we'll dd will be nearly 5 when we give it her but mentally only about 3 1/2 - 4yrs she really wants the dalmation one

Nemo1977 · 25/06/2006 20:49

fairydust depends on your DD I have one but it is used more by DS who is only 2.8yrs. He knows how to work it all and loves playing doggies as he calls it..only have that game and mario kart on it. He loves it. He also has a vtech smile which is actually more tempremental than the DS.

nutcracker · 25/06/2006 20:50

leapster

leapster lmax

nutcracker · 25/06/2006 20:52

Dd2 has the first one, not sure what the difference is between the two.

Only disadvantage is that there isn't loads of games to choose from. Dd has Disney Princess, and Dora and the one that comes with it.

I was considering the vtech smile one for ds but he likes the pen on the leapster. There is more games for the vtech one though.

fairydust · 25/06/2006 20:53

hmmmmmmm might see if i can find one in a store for dd to have a play with

I've lost my new palm & am furious with myself!

wordgirl · 25/06/2006 21:03

nutcracker, I have a Leapster that DS3 no longer needs if it's any good to you. It has hardly been used but has some sort of mark on the top left of the screen so it's not in perfect condition. Also has a Spiderman game with it. Anyway you'd be very welcome to it for your DS.

sansouci · 25/06/2006 21:08

golly, that's kind wordgirl! uh, do you have a Palm TX that you're not using by any chance?

crazydazy · 25/06/2006 21:12

DP has one and DS who is 4 loves playing it. DD is 6 and she has got bored with it now. They keep losing the little stylo thingies though and we have to keep buying new ones

We swop our games at our local store which is quite good as DP gets bored with them after a week.

wordgirl · 25/06/2006 21:13

Sorry sansouci, I don't even know what one of those is

sansouci · 25/06/2006 21:45

I wish I'd never got the silly thing. It was expensive & it was something I could actually have lived without. Anyway, it looks like it's back to the old filofax.

nutcracker · 26/06/2006 09:33

Wordgirl that would be fantastic and very kind of you, are you sure ?

He is a huge spiderman fan so would be thrilled.

wordgirl · 26/06/2006 11:45

Yes I'm sure nutcracker - I would be happy to see it go to a good home . Will you be able to CAT me or do I have to do something to be able to receive a CAT?
