Website (it won't let me link to the schoolwear offer page - is forbidden ) - anyway it seems to apply to everything except socks, shoes and underwear; we'll just have to guess what size they'll need in September!

(Will bump this tomorrow...)

My ds starts school in Sept and I was wondering where to get his uniform from as everywhere seems to stock it now.

Is M&S the best place to go? I dont want to be conned and buy the cheapest but am not forking out loads of money either.

Opinions?

JanH · 25/06/2006 10:40

M&S definitely the best for trousers, collision - they last forever IME. Their socks are lovely too and well worth the extra. For shirts the quality is worth the price, but if they are going to be wrecked on a regular basis then you might as well go to Asda/Matalan/Tesco for cheapies and replace them when they get horrible - or Adams, do you have any Nectar points? They are worth double in Adams.

thnaks for the info

collision · 25/06/2006 10:49

Yep....I have nectar points too! Thanks a lot!

JanH · 25/06/2006 11:02

You need to get vouchers online though, you can't just have your card swiped - this Nectar page lets you order vouchers, the adams website doesn't have any info that I can find.

Do you happen to know if this applies in the shops themselves JanH? Good deal, thanks for the heads up!

JanH · 25/06/2006 11:30

I'm guessing it will, tamum - I'm trying to do an order atm and the website keeps freezing, DS2 needs shoes but as we need to try them on I'm planning to go to M&S on Wed, maybe I'll leave the whole thing until then...

Decisions, decisions...

I will try next week I think- they finish school here on Friday . Thanks!

GDG · 25/06/2006 12:10

Oh great - think I'll order September uniform now and hope he is in age 4 by then (he'll be 5.5!!).

GDG · 25/06/2006 12:11

Collision - M&S worth the money imo. I didn't buy Tesco stuff but the Mums that did bought new shirts so they went through 2 lots - and that's only from Sept to Easter as they wear summer uniform (polo shirts/shorts) after the Easter break!!!

JanH · 25/06/2006 14:29

DS2's Matalan shirts have lasted 2 years - covered in spots of inks (and worse) now but they were sooo cheap I don't care. I am amazed at these people who have immaculate boys' shirts to sell on ebay!

I have bought some M&S ones this time (my basket reappeared ) in the hope that he might gradually get a little less grubby...only the cheaper easy-care ones though!

For boys, which are the best M&S trousers - there seem to be two prices, £4 and £7. In the store, the trsrs I saw had a false button/fly on the front for the younger age group but it's impossible to tell from the website if this is the case in all styles or just some. Any recommendations please - great offer!

Gingerbear · 25/06/2006 14:52

I ordered earlier this week. Many things are out of stock already, and some deliveries are on 4-5 weeks!

JanH · 25/06/2006 14:53

DS2 has had the dearer ones for 2 years (and they were second-hand!) and they have been fantastic. They are pull-on for ages 3-7 acording to the description, then zip+back elastication for 7-12.

The cheaper ones don't say - also they are flat front, no pleats, so wouldn't look quite as nice. HTH
