best place to buy muslins?

I am going to use muslins in stead of terry re-usable nappies with my DS2 due in sept. So I need to buy quite a few (prob about 20 - 30).
Can anyone recommend somewhere I can get them reasonably cheaply?

Hi. I'm sure I bought mine from Asda. They are made by Zorbit and I think I paid about £7.99 for 12.

I was given boots ones by someone and also bought a pack of a dozen from mothercare. I use them as nappies too - dd is now 6 months and still in them. I've found that the boots ones feel a bit stiff and aren't as easy to put on as the mothercare ones, which are nice and soft.

Can't remember how much they were though.

Hi Mabel, the nappy lady and kittikins stock them too

(when you use them instead of terries how do you "fasten" them? do nippas work?)

mabel1973 · 22/06/2006 19:14

Hi Tassis!
I think you can use a nippa, alhtough looking at my bro's bambino mio's that he and my SIL were using, they just fold the cloth in to a rectangle, put a liner folded over it and then slot it in to the wrap.
I guess when they're newborn they don't tend to wriggle so much, so don't need to be held in place as such.

I use nippas and a rikki wrap and they work perfectly well.

Cod!! Thought you get them for free!!!

tassis · 22/06/2006 20:10

thanks tictacsmum

do you think your 6 month old will fit them for much longer? is she average sized?

I need something to last until baby fits tots size 2s (which I already have)

LittleB · 22/06/2006 20:41

I used muslins with dd in a bambino mio wrap but only for the first couple of months as dd is a heavy wetter! Also found the Boots muslins hard and scratchy, the softest ones I found were Bambino Mio muslins, but can't remeber how much they were.

aha! you cna trust a fish

TicTacsMum · 24/06/2006 21:19

Tassis i think she'll fit them for quite a while but she's really little - only 12lbs 10ozs ATM. As she's got older we've just adapted the folds depending on how she outgrows them, it that makes sense.

When i asked about using muslims for nappies on here before dd was born there was someone who still used the occasional one on her 22 month ds!!

Good luck.

tassis · 25/06/2006 18:14

Thanks TicTacsMum.

Hope you don't mind another question - what would the advantages be over terries? I'm guessing they're neater?
