Car seats

We bought one of the Jane multi-position carseats and have had it in the flat carrycot position across the back seat up until a couple of weeks ago. But now that baby is 6 months old, I thought it was time to convert it into the sitting up position. However whenever he goes to sleep in the car, his neck really droops forward. He looks very uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it occur with other brand stage 0 carseats, as since they are used from newborn, when babies have no neck control, I thought this could be very bad.

I have no idea what this car seat looks like - do you have it forward or rear facing?

could you just put in back to lie fl;at position?

it won't hurt him, babies don't get stiff encks like adults do. Some jsut seem to sleep this way, though it does look very uncomfortable. My dt1 still sleeps like that now in the car and he is nearly 15 months, and his seat reclines enough that he doesn't have to. I would go back to the reclined postition if he is happier that way though.

we had a graco seat (part of the travel system) for ds which he always looked really comfy in. recently, however, hwe's become much too big for it - legs overhanging the end - but we can't find a stage 1 seat to fit our car. we've ended up swapping seats with dh's sister's son (a month older but mush smaller) until we can afford a new car. this (finally i reach a point! ) is a Jane multi-position and i agree with you! ds does look really awkward when sleeping, but at least his legs aren't crushaed against the back of the car. have you noticed that it also seems to make the baby really hot?

Its a Matrix Pro which is rear-facing. Here's a picture of it. I think I'll probably leave it upright for local journeys as he does get a better view (if awake), but if we do a long trip, I'd better put it back flat again.

I haven't noticed him being extra hot in it, apart from the really hot days anyhow. On hot days, if I go somewhere where I can't take it out of the car, I do cover it up with a rug, and blow the ac for about 10 mins before I put hime back in. The buckle and handle get very hot in the sun.

I had one of those Jane car seats, and just left DS in it flat until he outgrew it - lenghtwise, I mean - I di try it upright once, but DS is really long and he looked very uncomfortable with his legs squashed up all the time - so I switched from the lying flat seat directly to a Maxi-Cosi forward-facing seat when he was about 10 months old and that worked fine.

Just an update, to say now a week later, if he's awake, he's leaning forward and round the edge to have a good look around, so a bit worried on the lack of cushioning protection in this scenario as we have so many speed bumps to go over, let alone anything worse happening. There's no way to persuade a baby to sit back in his seat.
