Out n about nipper double

Just wondering if anyone has got one? Have currently got a phil & teds e3 but am fed up of it cos ds2 is too small (15 weeks) to sit up in the doubles seat but too big for underneath. Plus didn't realise what a problem it would be that it doesn't recline. Not to mention the fact that that the back seat is so close to the floor. Need to know whether to sell it and buy an out n about double or stick with the e3?

I sold on my E3 and it was a good decision. A bang on the head on the side of the buggy while trying to put a lolling DD in at 4 months was the final straw. Friend also sold hers on as her youngest insisted on holding the back wheels!

I bought a second hand double Mountain Buggy which I loved and am looking forward to using with DD and number 3. I have tried the Terrain (fixed wheel) and the Urban (swivel) and like the Terrain the most because it is so much lighter than the Urban. Although it is expensive (even second hand) I am pretty sure I will get the same money I paid for it!

I tried the double Nipper when we did a houseswap but didn't like it as both children sloped towards the middle. They were then a big just 2 and 6 months. The single Nipper is fab but I wasn't impressed with the double. The seats seemed more cramped than the MB too.

HTH.

i had the same issue with the E3 but my daughter was older when she outgrew the underneath bit (i assume you aren't using the coccon anymore but just lying him flat with a blanket?)

I sorted it by swapping the kids around - so the toddler goes in the back (which she loves) and the baby in the front - which does recline enough for her to sleep, just pull the zip down a bit. I found putting a blanket under her bum made her more comfy as the harness then fitted better and didn't come up to her face.
Why is the back seat so close to the floor a problem?
I looked at the Nipper double and my 2 year old freaked when we tried it out as the seats were so narrow.
Phil & Teds do an E3 twin. Mamatoto stocks them - 0845 3707970.

I'm with twickersmum, just swap them about. DS2 is 20 months and i've been using it since he was born, DD mostly walks now so am glad can still use my E3 as a single, the period that you need a double is so short it seems mad to buy something that is less flexible.

ooops didn't mean to say that 3 times

How about the Jane Powertwin - it looks v. comfy. I have been having similar double pushchair problems although I have an asd child and a 1 year old, so my needs are different. There are pro's and con's for them all.

Gem13 · 20/06/2006 21:36

I disagree geogteach about the period needing a double necessarily being short. It depends on the age difference between the children and/or special needs. Mine are 18 months apart and I used a double for nearly 2 years!

Mine will come into its own again for children 2 and 3 and I'm not dismissing it (yet!) for children 3 and 4.

Thanks everyone.

Yes ds2 is too big with no cocoon, in fact the cocoon was the worst buy ever, he fit in it for about 2 weeks! Tried ds2 in the front today but cant recline at all without the seat leaning on ds1's head! He is too small to sit up though, his little head was all over the show. Its hard though cos I know in a couple of months he will be fine in there. Bit gutted nobody liked the out n about double as it was the cheapest second hand all terrain option!

love my double nipper! imported a 10k one as handle height better me and dp tall - 5'8 and 6'2
put a big 3 year old and new baby in it. both comfy - light as anything - not over wide- lovely to push - actually gets alot of admiring glances....i am pramomatic and i love this one!
Recommend it - cheap too!

Awww, anchovies, I love my out n about nipper double and have friends who do too! I had huge agonies in choosing a double and was completely converted after trying a friends. DD1 is 3.5 and DD2 is 1 and I still use it lots even when DD1 walks - it's so light, narrow, holds lots of clobber (unlike E3), dead easy to steer one handed which comes in useful when DD1 gets fed up with pushing her buggy! Also one of the main selling points for me was that I could tip it up big kerbs/steps so easily even with 2 toddlers in, without jumping onto the handlebars to counterbalance the weight - I'm only 5'3.

I don't find the seats narrow nor have sloping problems but do have narrow DDs.

I bought mine new as second hand prices at the time were similar

mabel1973 · 21/06/2006 20:49

anchovies - I Have just bought an out n about double.
I havn't found the seats narrow, but Ds is very slim. I was attracted by the amount of storage as I use mine alot for shopping, whereas there is next to no storage with the e3. It is so light to push as well. I bought my 2nd hand off ebay - I was very lucky though as it had been well cared for and was pristine.

mrsdarcy · 21/06/2006 21:57

I have one which I used when DS1 and DS2 were little (and I'm storing in case we decide to provide DD with a sibling!) and I loved it. Really easy to use, comfortable for the children, surprisingly compact - I could get into most shops and park in our narrow hallway.
