Blinking pre pregnancy furniture... help me stop my dd from injuring herself!

... my dd is 8 months old, she's been rolling and 'commando crawling' for a while, but now she's on all fours and blinking fast. We've rearranged our furniture to give her a fair amount of room, but we have a side table, coffee table and dresser unit that has drawers at her head height.
I need to buy some protectors for the handles that open all the drawers as they're made of metal and fairly sharp, and a couple of times today my heart has been in my throat. However, I dont seem to be able to find what I am looking for. I dont think that corner cushions will work, I dont think they can be manipulated unless I cut them, then I dont know if they'd fit.
The handles look something like \link{http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=4501&productId=211685\these}

Any advice on what baby proofing thingy to buy will be great!
TIA

Don't go spending loads of money as you'll be surprised how quickly your dd will become more aware of her surroundings of what hurts and what doesn't Grin.

We used that spongy stuff you put round pipes to stop them freezing along the edges of our glass coffee table (only cos we had a spare bit). Could you tape some sponge round the handles for a short while? It won't look great but its cheap and do the job.

I remember having the same panic when my dd became mobile, cd's got strewn out of our 'pre-pregnancy' (i like that) cd rack, things got posted in the video recorder (what are they? my dd will ask in years to come)head got banged on everything possible. But once they are sturdy on their feet these things tend to stop.happening.

thanks Hattie, the sponge idea is a good one, will try that, no doubt I'll pop into the kitchen and come back to her eating a piece of sponge Grin so I'll get DH to do it!

I was just a bit worried as they're really sharp handles, 90 degrees and metal. I've caught my leg on them and ouch.

I shall be cutting up the sponges tomorrow, thanks! :) We also have to lower the base of her cot tomorrow as she can now sit up in it and is pulling herself on the bars, I know it will be a while before she launches herself out of it, but I'd rather be on top of it! They grow soooo fast!

If you look inside the drawers you may be able to actually unscrew the handles and take them off temporarily - replace with string to pull the drawers out with, or maybe you could even get new safer handles, cheap at IKEA or B&Q.

You can buy packs of handles fairly cheap from IKEA, pound shops and hardware stores. I would consider changing them anyway as sponge will look crap and tape will leave sticky marks on your furniture. Plus kids are more likely to bump into them the older they get.
