Ready beds

DTS have now outgrown their travel cots and we are looking for alternatives. I notice that Argos are selling readybeds. I have not come across these before. Does anyone have one and are they any good/worth the money? How do they work? Are they easy to clean, comfortable and are they suitable for 2yo?

TIA

We have one and DD (3.5yrs) uses it when she stays at freinds houses. I think they are fab, easily washable, don't take up much room when folded in bag, and DD seems to find it comfortable. Lots of my friends have them for their chidren too.

I think they look great! But I have resisted buying one because the kids are old enough to go in a bed, or sleep on a mattress on the floor. Readybed is really only an airbed with sleeping bag attached, after all.

shazronnie we use ours when DD goes to friends where they don't have a spare bed or mattress.

She also uses it when she fancies a change from her own bed!

Will def be getting one for DS too.

We got one when ds was 2 1/2, he's now almost 3,and he loves it - we got the First Readybed with the raised edges to stop him falling out - got ours from Amazon. Dead useful for sleeping at grandparents and we took it camping last week, he slept on it for five nights very comfortably and it never deflated. He sleeps better in it than he ever did in his travel cot and never asks to come into our bed. We do take his pillow and duvet and a cuddly toy from home though to make it more "homely".

My dd2 sleeps in one when we go camping too, they are great, she doesn't fall off it and we bought it when she was 2 so yes I'd recommend them!

FAB FAB FAB, my 7 year old still loves hers, we take them camping too. get a normal ready bed, rather than my first as they cannot roll out of it anyway Last you for years

DD had one of these from being about 2, until recently age 4. However it recently got a puncture and kept going down in the night. Couldn't find the cause or a hole though and have had to bin it. Have the cover somewhere though- - ought to ebay it really!

DD loved having it. However, I do have two criticisms with it though:

  1. DD is a very hot/sweaty little girl when she is asleep. The fleece was way too hot for her and she could never have it fastened much. We have sice bought her a cottom sleeping bag instead as much better for her.

  2. it is very narrow. DD moves around a bit in her sleep (or did)and would end up rolling off the edge of it, still with the bag round her but on the floor.

hulababy · 09/07/2006 22:31

Ours was a normal readybed, not the first one.

We have a Noddy one and my DD doesn't sleep well in it as she is a fidget and falls out!

We've got the 'single person' size for both our 2yr old and our 4 yr old (couldn't see the point in getting a toddler sized one). Both children slept like logs when we used them for camping, and we are intending to use them when we visit my mum.
Only thing I'd warn about is that the picture in the Argos catalogue was of a red and blue cover (which looked ok), but the actual ready beds are blue with a hideous washed out yellow stripe - of course, we bought them a day or so before we went camping so couldn't take them back and find nicer ones, and kids haven't complained yet.
