My 4 yr old starts school in Sept and trying to get all of his kit together. Trying to find a sensible lunch box and drinks bottle but some of them are ghastly and very few seem strong enough. Any recommendations?

Something that you can wash out easily for all those times there is a half eaten tuna sandwich mashed in there. We have a soft plastic type and although we can wipe it out, I always get the feeling that there is still food in the seams. I wish we had got a metal one. Also a drinks bottle that is easy to open and close and closes securely so it doesn't leak all over. Sorry, no specific reccommendations..

I use the Sigg lunchbox and bottle for my dd. More expensive than most, but really worth it.

m&s lunch bag and then lockit(?) platic boxes for the contents...

Mala ... are the Sigg bottles really completely leak-proof? My DS also starts school in Sept and with a tendancy to throw his bottle in his bag upside down without a worry about what's going to spill where, I am thinking about a Sigg bottle.

Millie1 - Yes the Sigg bottle is completely leakproof. You turn this thing at the top to open it and as long as you close it back again it's fine. The actual lid itself doesn't have to be closed. Don't know if this makes sense, but you will see what I mean when you see the bottle. My dd just turned 3 when she started using it and I just had to practice with her a week before to make sure she knew how to open and close it.

Mala - you mention the Sigg lunchbox and I had looked at these having seen such good recommendations on the bottles. Is your dds the metal one or one of the plastic ones?
