Bunk beds for older girls??

Just in the process of doing up DD's bedroom. We moved house and she has been put in the smaller room on account of her being older (11) and not having toys etc but the deal was we would make it look pretty. Have been buying duvet covers, blinds, paint, carpet etc so it's all adding up. She has asked for bunk beds so she can have friends for sleepovers easily. She wants to sleep on the top bunk and use the bottom bunk for lounging on and for friends to stay over. There is only space for a 2 foot six bed though because of the placement of the door. I'm worried a narrow bunk bed will be impractical and uncomfortable as she grows older. Can't have a trundle bed, again because of the door, you wouldn't be able to open it with a bed in the way. I think she'd be better off with a standard single bed and just put sleepover pals on an airbed. What do you reckon? (She could have a 3 foot bed if she put it the other side of the door, but a bunk on that side would block the window) Thanks!

Managed to sell my DD the idea of a midi cabin bed with pull out desk, due to the fact of it having a private bit underneath for lounging - and yes airbed for the friends! The midi is short enough so it doesn't swamp her (small) room, but is also short enough to not block window! Bed is decent size, not sure if 3ft or not,

Have you looked at L-shaped bunk beds? Tbh I would stear clear of bunks at this age. We had bunks when I was younger and by the time I was 13/14 I really didn't want to be climbing up to the top bunk. Even less so when I was 17/18 and not in the right condition to be climbing up to a top bunk due to alcohol.

You could also maybe tempt her into a single futon type bed if that might fit.
