E-readers - Should I get a Kindle, a Nook or a Kobo?

The more I look at and compare e-readers, the more confused I get!

I've been looking at the lit versions - Kindle paperwhite, Nook Glowlight and Kobo Glo. All seem to have their pro's and cons and I'm really struggling to decide which one to get.

Do you have one? What do you love/hate about it?

Please help me choose MN.

If you have a smartphone download the Kindle app. I never thought I'd take to reading on my phone but I rarely pick up my Kindle now. Spend the money you save on not buying an ereader on books (ebooks/real books) instead!

I love my kindle paperwhite. I used to have a kindle keyboard which I also liked, but the paperwhite is so much better. It is a dedicated reader, however, so if you are looking for something that will do other things, it might not be for you. I also have the cover that turns it off and on when you open and close it; the experience for me is much like reading a print book.

Duffy, I don't agree. I have both and much prefer either my ebook or my husbands kindle to reading on the phone or ipad. they are ok for short bursts but sore on the eyes after a while. I'm on my second ebook, but the kindle is fine, will probably get a paper white next time.

I think they all have their own merits.

DH started off with a basic Kobo & really liked it. Liked that he could get books from anywhere not just Amazon. Unfortunately it had to be replaced because the buttons eventually wore out through overuse.

Our whole family now have Kindles (again, the basic version). DH is totally converted, especially since he has worked out how to get books free from various (probably dodgy) websites, not just Amazon. The teenagers love theirs & rarely pick up a real book now.

I like the Kindle, but really still prefer a traditional book. I like to fiddle with the pages when I read & you can't do that with an eReader!

I would never read on a phone - screen too small

Crikey, answers! I thought this was one of those thread destined to never get a reply.

I was looking to buy the e-reader for my birthday at the end of May so had to make a decision. I went with the Kindle Paperwhite in the end and I really like it. I think the Kobo would have been my second choice but I had a friend on Twitter tell me that uploading the books was much harder and the Nook I decided against because the screen isn't as good as the other two.

I really don't fancy the idea of reading on my phone. The screen seems too small for that.

Blatherskite, I just realized your original post was several weeks ago. Glad you like your paperwhite!

I have the Kindle 3. I hate the touch screen ones and I don't need the internet in it either.

Glad you like the paperwhite.

I have a Sony eReader and it's great. I buy my books for it from Kobo. The only thing I hate about it is there's no backlight for night-time reading.

I also have the Kobo App and the Kindle App on my iPhone and quite honestly, the eReader hasn't been used in a while.

Amazon do have a much better choice of book than kobo I find though.
