not sure which pram to buy - would like to be able to face baby in pram position and possibly in pushchair mode. Needs to be lightweight and something that can fit a car seat. I don't like the three wheelers. am new to all this - v. confusing. So far have considered mamas and papas pramette or venezia. have been told to await the new silvercross 3d

I've heard good things about the pramette, but personally love my bugaboo cameleon!

schneebly · 15/05/2006 18:43

If I had the money I would have got the M & P pramette.

blueteddy · 15/05/2006 18:45

The pramette looks really good, as does the bebe confort loola, as it is the only lightweight buggy which faces both ways.

NotAnOtter · 15/05/2006 18:45

pooka me too!

Filyjonk · 15/05/2006 18:49

oooh, have you considered the bugaboo?

i thouught they were over rated for ages...then used a friend's and they are completely fantastic, meet all your criteria and will last through sll stages.

not so cheap, though...

pooka · 16/05/2006 22:22

Have kept away from the other thread about expensive prams NAO Wink
The bugaboo is simply fantastic! Love it. Love it. Love it.

manitz · 16/05/2006 22:55

agree bugaboo nice to push but is fairly big folded down wld try it out b4 you buy any pram. I have old style pliko and only annoying thing was that the handles were straight and so hurt my wrists (had carpal tunnel). as lived in city hated 3 wheelers but when i had dd2 got pandt and it's fab, easy to push and hold dd1s hand if she doesn't want to be in the buggy. really like 3 wheelers now (also too scared to post on other thread) - but v big when folded, if you want a small folder has to be an umbrella fold.

BTW the pliko was lightweight but not as lightweight as a standard stroller which I got 6months later. IMHO you go for it and get a pram (hauk?? do one for £70 which is bouncy and gets baby to sleep) then get a stroller which is truly lightweight rather than a cross betw the two which does none of the jobs that well.

Have had 4 prams since my dd was born 2yrs ago, the one I have now is by far the best, Bebe Confort Loola. It's FAB!

lisayb · 17/05/2006 16:45

Thanks for your advice - might check out the bugaboo even tho v. expensive. Also does anyone know anything about Jane's matrix car seat - is it really as safe as a "normal" one?

OP posts:
manitz · 17/05/2006 20:25

don't know what the jane matrix is but my friend had the jane powertwin and her (quite large) 4 month old boys are now too big for the jane carseats which go with it so shes reverted to her second hand m and p seats she was given. (primo vaggio) dunno what the jane seats were called.

Carameli · 18/05/2006 13:32

I had the Venezia for my dd and loved it when she was a baby. Live near the top of a hill as she got heavier it was harder and harder to push back from the shops. So when she got to about 1 1/2 I got a Mclaren techno which was so much lighter to push.
But saying that hope to use it again with no.2. I loved the way you could have them facing you and the pramette feature.
I would check out the weight of the pramette one and compare them.

lisayb · 18/05/2006 18:07

Thanks - that's reassuring. They're both about the same weight (9kg). I think I prob will get the venezia - unless anyone else has any other ideas

I have the Chicco CT Trio which I think is great and a very reasonable price but not sure about the weight. It is an umbrella fold and comes with a carseat and a carrycot which both attach to the buggy and can obviously be used separately as well (-you don't need a moses basket!). The handles can face in any direction too which is great!

There is another thread about the Jane Matrix car seat too. My mum bought me the Jane slalom and matrix. The pram is just fantastic. DD is 10 months old and I have not had to buy another pram (which others have).

I would say that if you have the money the Bugaboo is brilliantly designed. I did not like the look of them but having used friends I'd def consider one.

The matrix on the other hand was a waste of money and I would def not buy one. The Britax Isofix or MaxiCosi Isofix are the safest according to Which.

The Jane Powertrack is good too as have a friend who has one of them too.

Think the Buggaboo fits the MaxiCosi seat
