I'm going to take the plunge and buy one of these as I really can't be bothered to take every nappy downstairs and my sister has just pointed out that my dd's room smells like an old people's home when I don't. So.....if you've got one and like it can you tell me which one you've got (and if you regret buying yours which one have you got)?

  • what are the running costs like on these things (in orther words, how much am I going to be held hostage to the manufacturer for the privilege of buying their plastic bags)?

I had one for DS1 & it was not my best buy. You pay out as much, if not more on the liners & DS's room smelt vile! Waste of monet IMO & for DS2 I just used regular nappy bags!

Waste of money IMO.Far easier to bag and chuck in bin outside each time.Smell was vile,as was emptying it when full-wouldn't waste my money again. If I hadn't given mine away (complete with 5 cassettes) you could have had it.

I was given the Tommee Tippee nappy wrapper as part of my baby shower from work. I've been through about 6 cartridges in 11 weeks (at about £4.50 a go) and have found it indispensable. Yes, it is a bit more pricey than using plain bags, and I'm sure it's more expensive than normal nappy bags, but it doesn't smell, it's convenient and easy - I usually get about 20 nappies into it before I empty it, so I only have to take the nappies out to the bin about twice a week. I would definitely recommend it.

i think they stink!

tortoise · 14/05/2006 23:21

ive got a tommee tippee one you can have for cheap if you want it.Dont think they are great though!

controlfreaky2 · 14/05/2006 23:33

no.... dont do it. like having to steel yourself to empty chemical loo on caravanning holiday as child.... and they dont make the poo non smelly! room will still smell of poo...

ok for newborns perhaps but not for real pooey poo

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/05/2006 23:37

Its great for up until you start weaning...so for me the first six months - no smell.

The older they get and the larger nappy size you use, the less space in the bin too.

MrsFogi · 15/05/2006 09:20

Thanks for the honest replies, I'm starting to think that I may just have to use my legs to bring the nappy out to the bin each time - I hadn't thought about how hideous emptying it might be!

agree with Venividivicky; good for little non offensive nappies; no good for huge wet stinky toddler jobs!
