My dishwasher has had it (I think) - antyadvice, recommendations?

It's a Bosch and hasn't been cleaning as efficiently for months now - I've had to rewash glasses etc. when I get them out. Yesterday when I opened it in the morning - nothing was clean, I ran it again and things were a bit cleaner, but not much. I've stripped down all the bits I can get at - filters etc., and the rotating arms, put more salt in, the tablets I use have rinse aid etc. This morning - it's even worse - the things don't look like they've been washed at all.

Dh is dithering about getting someone to look at it - I'm inclined to just get a new one (it's about 5 years old and has had heavy usage!).

So...has anyone had this and successflly got it fixed and if so what was it and how much did it cost?

Or...recommendations for dishwashers and online sites that can deliver fast! It needs to be a cold fill model.

Can't believe how much I resent washing up by hand now...I love my dishwasher!

have you tried running it empty with a product like shiny sinks in it or soda

marthamoo · 14/05/2006 10:05

Yep, done that - no improvement.

Noo suggestions then sorry..ours is a Bosch..if you want to move upmarket get a miele one with a flat cutlery tray on the top..it should last 10 years (unfortunately I got one and then got divorced and so missed out!)

I've been looking at Miele - they look brilliant. I'm more in the £300 price bracket though...

Just found a Miele one for almost £2000 - I'd expect it to put the dishes away for that.

Not all Mieles cost that though ! We've one with the flat cutlery tray; great space saver. We inherited it when we moved house, but previously I bought one for more than the cost of a Bosch, but not much more. They are also very quiet, which appeals if, like me, you have a kitchen/diner where you spend a lot of time with the dishwasher running.

I'm leaning towards a Miele now Grin Having looked around some more - there are several around the £350 price mark and John Lewis are offering a free extended 5 year warranty on their Miele machines atm.

I agree about the quietness too..take a look at the decibels as well as the A ratings
