some say ULTRASUN is good as well, there's a thread - i think it's in the behaviour section - about a girls' teacher's reaction to putting on suncreme at school. it's from today and the OP is 'creamolafoam'

anyone tried any others, dd has had a reaction to Nivea, Avon, Johnsons and Boots sesitive all factor 50, we head to cyprus in 7 weeks and i am worrying myself sick although i have bought a few uv suits for her, she is nearly 3, we are in Scotland so don't really see much of the sun but in the last 3 days its been so warm, her little arms are so red and patchy rash like with using johnsons, although we use johnsons baby bath and its fine, could it be just the sun, has she maybe really sensitive skin?

my ds1 reacts to loads of products but has been okay with Green People so far. They do often put nut oils in their products though (sweet almond oil in particular) so it's worth checking ingredients if you are worried about those.

Kidstrack · 12/05/2006 23:33

think i will look into green people then, thanks

Banana Boat Baby 50 - Mild as water! Used on my son who has very sensitive skin - wonderful and has never burnt. see \link{http://www.bananaboat.co.uk\this} think you can also get in in Boots.

Second banana boat - do think it's a suck it and see situation though as people react differently to different things. I ended up buying a handful of different brands from Boots that were all marketed as hypo-allergenic. Then I simply took back the ones that brought DS up in a rash - and Boots, to their credit, refunded me.

My dd had terrible reactions to sun cream until I found this link below. It transformed our summer last year. We use Vichy. It's not cheap but worth every penny to prevent her scratching until she bleeds and crying all night.

Hope this helps

Good link Billster. I had the physical/chemical thing explained to me a few years ago by a pharmacist and have since gone for sunscreens with titanium dioxide in the ingredients. Used to come out in a terrible blistery rash but since using only sunscreens with td have had no problems. Don't have to be really expensive.Try piz buin. Have recently bought banana boat spf50 for dd (5 months) and seems to be good on her.

Good luck.

I have always reacted badly to nivea since i was a child. I now only use an american product which is called Waterbabies and made by coppertone. It also worked very well for my dd who had very very bad excema when she was younger. However, I don't think you can get it here. But the important thing is that it's hypoallergenic AND you must make sure that whatever you use is PABA free. That's what most people with allergenic skin react to.

My ds has bad excema and have found that ultrsun is fine.( can get it in john lewis) its not cheap but lasts all day:) hth
