Does the perfect double buggy exist?

I know this has been done a number of times, but please bear with me....
My dd will be 18 months when number 2 arrives. Ideally I'd like a lightweight pram/buggy that allows dd1 to sit upright facing out and for number 2 to be able to lie flat (completely flat) facing me. Does this exist without breaking the bank?

have you looked at the jane powertwin?
I'll ahve a 21 month gap when the baby is born, and I need something that's really eash to push and that will fit through the front door. don't fancy a side by side.

oh - just reread - it's not a lightweight one , it's fairly substantial. ebays for about £350

Shivs1974 · 09/05/2006 14:56

Thanks hana. I've just had a look at this and it to have baby facing you, he/she needs to be in a carseat. As I live walking distance to town, I'll be doing a fair bit of walking and would rather that new baby wasn't in a carseat. It'd be perfect otherwise! Anyother ideas?

bugger
didnt' know that baby had to be in a carseat
might have to rethink that, I'll be walking my 4 year old to school and back every day -bout 25 min each way - so ideallay need lie flat one

starlover · 09/05/2006 15:06

this one definitely breaks the bank

you can also have a seat at the front instead of 2 carrycots!

starlover · 09/05/2006 15:06

better picture \link{http://www.healthchecksystems.com/inglesina_domino_twin_stroller.htm\here}

starlover · 09/05/2006 15:07

or perhaps \link{http://www.ekmpowershop3.com/ekmps/shops/jusonneuk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=78\this one?}

huge those!
had a bebe comfort pram for dd1 and it was so so big. great to push and she was comfy but just too big, v sad to get rid of it when dd was big enough for stroller...
shivs1974 - are you sure the baby has to be in a carseat? I've been googling them and the front seat has 2 positions and the back seat 4
I think I"ll still go for this and use my sling for baby for the first few months and stroller for toddler and then swap over for double buggy

starlover · 09/05/2006 15:14

the second one is only 10kg... that's lighter than my single pushchair! lol

MrsBadger · 09/05/2006 15:14

I see someone pushing the \link{http://www.inglesina.com/en/products/details.php?sectionid=19&itemid=183&pathtype=sectiontree\Inglesina Domino} on my way to work with hefty toddler twins in pushchair seats facing each other.
It does look quite heavy (and bet it's chunky when folded) but the trad pram-style suspension makes it seem v easy to push, get up kerbs etc

starlover · 09/05/2006 15:19

just saw a review for the bebe confort twin on another site from someone who uses it in New YOrk and highly recommends it as it's (reasonably) lightweight and easy to get around the city.

only downside apparently is that the front seat has no footrest

MrsBadger · 09/05/2006 15:25

ooh, ooh, was it from \link{http://www.daddytypes.com/archive/2004/09/24/bebe_confort_twin_club_looks_great.php\Daddytypes?} he's my top source of Flash New Buggies

starlover · 09/05/2006 15:26

that's the one!!!!

starlover · 09/05/2006 15:27

oooh no am seeing lots of things on there that i can't have cos it's american! waaah

Shivs1974 · 09/05/2006 15:30

Hana - I could be completely & utterly wrong. I googled the jane powertwin and it came up with some piccies on \link{http://www.twoleftfeet.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?REFPAGE=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2etwoleftfeet%2eco%2euk%2fJane_Special_Offers%2ehtml&WD=powertwin&SHOP=%20&PN=copy_of_copy_of_copy_of_2004_Jane_Powertrack_360_Twin%2ehtml%23a2166#a2166\here}

The only way that you could have baby facing you (which is what I want) was to use the carseat - unless I've completely misinterpreted the photos. That's a v possible option Smile

Oh love the Bebe Confort twin though....just have to persuade dh!!! But I'm sure I'll win....
Any other prams like it??

OP posts:
starlover · 09/05/2006 15:32

whate er you choose, don't buy from two left feet! v. bad reputation... and watchdog involved!!! lol

starlover · 09/05/2006 15:32

me too shivs... if only i had another baby! lol

MrsBadger · 09/05/2006 15:36

I think you can use the \link{http://www.whizzywheels.co.uk/auto_carrycot__m79\Jane Auto Carrycot} (which is one of those lie flat ones with a waist belt that aren't really safe for use in a car) on the Powertwin but I can't find anywhere that says you definitely can.

MrsBadger · 09/05/2006 16:30

right - ultimate Jané guide (phew):
The \link{http://www.jane.es/construye/index.php?fuseaction=fitxa&tipo=1&id_producte=122&categoria=\Twin Two}, which is bigger than the Powertwin and four-wheeled can be used with the
\link{http://www.jane.es/seguretat/index.php?fuseaction=capazopro\Capazo Pro} (called the Auto Carrycot in the UK)
or the
\link{http://www.jane.es/seguretat/index.php?fuseaction=matrixpro\Matrix} foldable car seat (apparently safe but a bit uncomfy when used upright in the car, good when laid flat on pushchair)
facing you, and the other child in a pushchair seat facing direction of travel.

Powertwin doesn't appear to be compatible with anything except the Rebel regular carseat - so no good there.
