Limestone Flooring - good or bad?

We are about to start major works on the house & are looking into flooring for new kitchen/dining room. I love the look of limestone but research(on the 'net) suggests it may stain easily. With 2 kids and zero desire to do housework, I know I'm not going to be pouncing on any spills and catching them before they hit the floor so I thought I'd ask if anyone has got this, and is it a good idea or not. (We're having underfloor heating so cold isn't an issue)

If you do use limestone it's really important that you use a relatively non-porous one. Really they are all porous, but some are better than others. Personally I wouldn't use limestone in a kitchen as it really isn't good with food stains no matter how you seal it. What is it about limestone that you like? Is it the light color? Some of the basalts have similar colors. Or if you like the big sized tiles (600x900mm) try these guys...stone . They have a really great selection and really good prices and do most things in the larger sizes which everybody else charges a fortune for.

we have lovely limestone flooring, and no problems with stains, I don't know whether it is a particularly non porous one or if it is sealed well or what (we didn't put it in, previous owners did). it certainly isn't that we are super tidy. Mind you I did smash a bottle of balsamic vinegar on it last week (yes, a whole litre)and the bits that I wiped up last have left a faint shadow... but I think it will "wear out" IYKWIM.
another top tip is make sure you have underfloor heating with it - lovely to walk on warm stone in the morning, can imagine it would be hell to walk on if it was "stone" cold....
