Going camping with 8mo soon, and likely to go to places without highchairs...need something I can squish into rucksack rather than a whole extra thing to carry... is

yeh i have one and it's great.

I would strongly recommend the baboz one though \link{http://www.baboz.com.au/\baboz}
it's the only one I could find that has straps over the shoulders as well! much needed for my wriggly boy!

i think i got mine from kiddicare for about £8

nailpolish · 08/05/2006 15:01

yes we had one for the dd's when they were little

kept one at Grans also as she has a lack of space for highchairs etc

Jessajam · 08/05/2006 15:06

Oooh, like the look of the baboz ones starlover...like the sound of the kiddicare price too!!!Grin

Yes, loved mine. Absolutely brilliant.

HunKeRMunKeR · 08/05/2006 15:11

Don't your children mind that they're not at table height though?

Tatties · 08/05/2006 15:47

I just got a \link{http://www.johnlewis.com/Nursery/Baby+Essentials/Feeding/Seats+and+Boosters/230229166/Product.aspx?SearchTerm=totseat\Totseat} from John Lewis, it is great. A bit more pricey than the Baboz, but I didn't have time to order one on-line before we went away. We found that ds, 13mths, was practically table height in it. If not I guess you could sit them on a cushion. Much better than grottly highchairs in restaurants anyway IMO!

chubbleigh · 08/05/2006 16:12

The best one I have come across is a Handisit. It is not cheap but it folds flat and goes into a carry case. They come up regulary on ebay.

JiminyCricket · 08/05/2006 16:41

my friend bought one of these round and i don't know if the chair back was too high or the baby too little for it, but didn't work out very safe - you have to watch they don't lurch forward and bang their head. she might have not fitted it right..

Tatties · 08/05/2006 16:52

You always have to supervise (ds could get out if he wanted to), but on the Totseat anyway the straps are adjustable so once they are in they are quite secure and unless you didn't fasten it at the back or the baby isn't sitting up yet I don't think falling forward is a possibility. Ds does however kick the table legs and pushes himself back... so you definitely have to watch them!

I used this one from Blooming Marvellous and thought it was great - slight variation......

jessajam we have the one you posted below...use it only where somewhere don't have highchairs and we find it ok....does the job!!!

SleepySuzy · 08/05/2006 19:51

I got a similar one from Ebay and it is brilliant. Haven't used it for ages, but it was used a lot when dd was younger (she is 2 now).

SleepySuzy · 08/05/2006 19:55

I think it was from \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PORTABLE-TRAVEL-BABY-CHAIR-HARNESS-HIGHCHAIR-HIGH-SEAT_W0QQitemZ7764439029QQcategoryZ2986QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem\this seller}

tassis · 09/05/2006 14:26

the totseat people were at the baby show and they had all the most bizarre shapes and sizes of chairs on display - prooving the point that the totseat works on all different seats.

I was impressed...

Twinkie1 · 09/05/2006 14:27

Got a lovely grren one with purple cirles on from JL and it was crap other than giving us the wrong clip (2 bits the same so wouldn;t clip into each other!!) when we tied it together DS kept divig off of the chair!!

Jessajam · 09/05/2006 14:29

Thanks all for opinions...really wanted to avoid falling into trap of buying some clever looking doo-dad that turns out to be pile of pants ( am thinking inflatable cot...humph!...)

Am definitely planning on using a pocket highchair....right now trying to decide whether I could actually make one myself - issue is not really whether I would be capable of it skills-wise (IYSWIM) but more can I be arsed and will I actually have a chance to...?

Jessajam · 09/05/2006 14:30

oh and I think I'd go for the BAboz type design, with the shoulder "restraints" to prevnt similar diving from ds!

I have the baboz - very easy to use as it's all one piece
