Baby Blender or Hand Blender???

Want to get one, cant decide which. have even seen a defrosting, steaming, blending one!!!

I have been meanin to upgrade my braun to the knewer chrome one that can crush ice so should I just get it and use it for baby's food?

He will be growing up soon and the baby blender may just be a waste!!
any ideas?

Hand blender DEFINITELY... baby blenders never seem to get quite enough in there and are fiddly to clean.

Highly recommend a hand blender with a) a beaker or something that attaches that you can mix in (not essential but less of a pain than trying to dig around in cupboards for an appropriate container) and b) one which the end detaches for washing/dishwasher (I hate having to watch the flex while washing up!)

I always just my hand blender which had a little beaker with it and a little measuring tub - could be used for storage too.

I also vote for the handblender. My DD and DS are 4 and 6 now but the one I bought when DD was born still gets regular use for smoothies, soups, veg purees etc.

A baby one would never have lasted this long. Ours also had a grinder attachments which I have used less but is useful if I'm feeling domesticated and want to make a fab curry from start (for grinding the spices)!!

Agree with jmg

I actually liked the all singing all dancing baby blender. I think it's the one you've seen champs, where you put water in one side, fruit or veg in the basket, steam, then tip the food out of the basket and whizz it up. I did mainly use it in the early days when I cooked most food fresh, but I actually still use the blender bit now for doing small amounts of real food whoch would get lost in my big Moulinex.

Hand blender - I think mine was £19 from Argos. Good size beaker and detachable/ dishwasher safe end.

The baby ones seems quite little in comparison.

Handblender, Champs! But if someone is treating you, the Magimixes have a teeny bowl that sits inside the family-sized main bowl. We use our Braun handblender loads but find it can take a while to make a 100% smooth puree for tiny babies.

Handblender

handblender everytime. mines a cheap 5-6quid jobby from asda but is excellant.

BadHair · 22/01/2004 23:35

I'll add my two-penn'orth to the handblender vote. You'll get much more use out of it.

SofiaAmes · 22/01/2004 23:50

Careful though. I have burned out two braun handblenders making baby food. I think it was the rice that did it. Or maybe it was the garlic I added (didn't want to get them used to bland food).

which model was it? was it the new one-- with chrome?
