Space-saving highchair??

Wehave a very small eating area in our kitchen. The Chicco highchair we used for DS is just too big and I'd like to find a nice, compact highchair for DD. I bought one of those that clamp onto the table but our dining table has a lip underneath that made it impossible to fix the seat safely. Any other suggestions??

i had the same problem and i got a mothercare atlanta highchair. I really like it and it folds very flat... BUT, i found that actually I never bothered folding it up anyway as it was too much hassle.
I now wish I'd got something like the tripp trapp which would have kind of slid under the table like a proper chair whilst not in use

Will look at the Atlanta. I did look at the Tripp Trapps but they seem to take up as much square footage (if you see what I mean) as the Chicco. The problem is trying to get into the fridge, freezer, utility area, etc without moving furniture everytime. Had high hopes for the chair attached to the table solution.

Starlover, just looked at the Atlanta and I like it, especially the spotty cover, but I think I would have the same problem with the floorspace. I know I would never fold it up.

I bought the chair to attach to the table from Mothercare. Does anyone know where I could perhaps find a different model that might be more flexible?

another vote for tripp trapp; we have one and it does slide away under the table when not in use; also you don't need a tray taking up so much room

I love our tripp trapps. We have 3 and they just go under the table like normal chairs. They don't have trays so go right up to the table while eating. And they look like normal furniture rather than high chairs, so less noticable when not in use IYSWIM.

change the table?

We use this one which will clip onto almost all chairs. It's great. We used it from about 10 months I think. We take it away on holiday too.

Piffle, seriously considering that option!

Littlefish, I've been thinking about the Handysitt but then we lose a chair. Might have to convince DH that we need a new table AND new chairs. Woo hoo!

I just take our HandySitt off and put it under the stairs when we need the extra chair again (folds up really small). Just a thought, do you mean that you need all your chairs every day, plus a high-chair

Tex111 · 05/05/2006 20:47

Littlefish, we do need all chairs plus a highchair but mainly just for breakfast when we're all together. Might be able to just buy another chair. Will have to see if Ikea still do them.
