dh has a stainless steel one - it was a pressie

he does use it and it does make nice lump-free mash if that's what you like

HunKeRMunKeR · 02/05/2006 18:00

I use mine. Make sure if you add milk later that the milk is hot. Makes all the difference.

Pruni · 02/05/2006 18:00

We have a stainless steel one and it's fab. As an added bonus, it doubles up as a toddler toy, with the addition of one small man-like figure for 'eating' purposes.

Greensleeves · 02/05/2006 18:01

YES, Hunker, you disgrace Grin

PinkKerPlink · 02/05/2006 18:02

you have to peel the pots!

there is a juicing attchment on it and obne for doing purees

fairyfly · 02/05/2006 18:04

Nigella Lawson always pipes on about these and guess what............. she doesn't peel. The skin stays in the press.

Greensleeves · 02/05/2006 18:05

Really? The workshy old tart

PinkKerPlink · 02/05/2006 18:06

omg you dont have to peel

lilibet · 02/05/2006 18:06

Wonderful, I made Gnocchi at weekend with mine and it was really good

Squarer · 02/05/2006 18:09

Was going to mention that you didn't need to peel - only discovered this since DB's american girlfriend came to stay and did mashed pots with the skin in (think she removed from ricer and cut up to add, not huge sheet like items in otherwise perfect mash).
I love my ricer, but mine is a plebby Ikea one Wink Grin

SoupDragon · 02/05/2006 18:10

Mine's the Ikea version too. It's fab. I microwave a jacket potato, cut in half and squidge it through the ricer for the DSs.

Squarer · 02/05/2006 18:15

oooh thats a good word... squidge

hulababy · 02/05/2006 18:22

I didn't get it from Lakeland, but an identical one from a kitchen type shop in Sheffield. I use it every week for mash. So easy - microwave whole potatoes, cut in half and pop through ricer - lump free every time :) I bought mine after a recommendation on MN Grin
