Glider Chairs - Any advice?

Can anyone let me know what they think of the various glider chairs on the market? The Hauck ones look very reasonable at £100 ish including the stools, but are they signficantly worst in terms of quiality to the John Lewis ones?

I really struggled with finding comfortable chairs to nurse in with my first child, and this time round I am thinking of buying a glider chair.

Thanks!

Could never afford one myself but don't think have suffered particularly because of this - I found (as I think many on MN have - few comments \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1216&threadid=154210\here} and \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1012&threadid=128424\here}) that a large collection of cushions, pillows etc is more useful and versatile. They also take up less space in the (often teeny) nursery!

£100 seems quite good value compared to some out there though. Perhaps try secondhand / free ads or Ebay? Or at least be prepared to sell it on if you buy one and then discover it doesn't work for you.

ive got one,got mine from ebay.its a hauck one,and i paid about £95 with the footstool and delivery.its great.but i have seen better quality ones but they are usually four times the price!!

i have a hauck one that I got from kiddicare.

I'll be honest and say that for breastfeeding it was really rubbish. It was the wrong height and the footstool made it worse.
the arms were too high and I never fed ds comfortable in it.

BUT... i do still love it! it's a really nice, comfy chair. ds has his bedtime story sat in it each night and it's nice to just relax in and have a cuddle with baby.

If I were you I would go and try some out first... try and sit how you will be when feeding and see if it'll work1

Thanks for all of the responses. I did try last time with cushion, chairs, lying in bed and nothing really worked and the room I will probably nurse in is currently chairless....

I will try and find a hauck one to "try out" before purchasing anything, and will also keep an eye on e-bay for bargains.

Does the hauck one "lock" so that my 2 year old wouldn't be able to jam her fingers?

no, mine doesn't lock

I bought one from ebay. I think it is hauck was £130. It is pretty comfy. I do think it is a bit ugly though. But didn't find the John Lewis ones at £300-500 that much better looking.

I do wish it reclined though so could have a nap in it with baby.
