I don't have it, but after paying out £55 in a fortnight (cystitis and an infected mammary gland - ouch!) I wish that I did have. I know that Sainsury's do it and I when I did get a quote it seemd quite reasonable, have a look on their website.

be careful though-2 types of insurance-lifetime and non-lifetime. Lifetime means if your cat develops a problem that it will have for the rest of its life (eg diabetes) they will always pay. Nonlifetime means you are covered for 12 months then you are on your own-stuffed at this point as cant then get any other insurance. This is usually the point where people find out as not widely advertised. cheaper policies tend to be non lifetime-inc most supermarket ones. More than pet insurance seems to be a fairly good deal at moment (I dont work for them!)

We're with Tesco - £14 pcm for the cat and the dog, think the cat element is £5.50 pcm with a £25 excess

I used to have pet insurance for my cat, it was about £4 pcm when I started (this was a while ago) but the premiums rocketed up. A year or so ago it went up to over £19 pcm!!! which frankly was a rip-off, considering I'd only claimed once or twice in ten years. The problem is when the cat gets to 8, that's when it really starts to rise. If your cat is over 8 to start with they probably won't do it.

PetPlan for the Cat (£9 a month - she is over 10...). M&S for the dog (11.25 a month...) Very dependent on where you live (London is much more...) and age of animal, and breed....
I did it 'cos my mum shelled out over 1k on a cat that was involved in a car crash......
Excesses also vary and it is usually the case that standard treatments (ie innoculations) aren't covered...

I asked our vet about this and he recommends insurance only for the first year and/or if you live on a busy road. Reason being that most accidents happen during the first year and involve traffic. Otherwise, he reckons that putting the premium you'd normally pay into a savings account would cover most eventualities as the cat gets older.
