Storing baby clothes for the next one......but no more room!
popsycal · 19/01/2004 20:43
The loft, the garage and under the beds are full. The cupboard under the stairs is about to explode.....!!!
We have no storage left and no where to put a new cupboard to make new storage!
We have given away or lent out many of ds's baby clothes but having just done another mass clear out of his wardrobe, we have stuff that we need to store for when another babypopsycal pops (whenever that may be!!)
There must be SOMETHING that can help me out of my dilemma - bar a charity shop!!
The stuff I have left is the result of ruthless decluttering.....I can't part with anymore of it!
Anyone help me?

Have you tried those plastic bags that you seal then vacuum out the air ? I think they are supposed to reduce the size by up to 75% or something like that
Posey · 19/01/2004 20:58
I use those vacuum bags and very good they are too. Occasionally they need re-suctioning to get them as small as possible, but brilliant for the short of storage. My mum stores spare duvets, pillows and sleeping bags in hers.
I have a feeling they came from Lakeland

When you lasses talk about 'Lakeland' is this the chain you mean? And why are so many MNetters fans? I never heard of it except on MNet. But there's a branch in Norwich, so perhaps I'll soon be initiated!

Yes thats the one, used to be called Lakeland Plastics. They sell loads of things you didn't realise you needed but once you've got them don't know how you lived without them!

How about dressing all of ds's cuddly toys in items of his newborn clothing

I know this is a bit old but does anyone know where you can get these vacuum bags in smaller sizes?
I put a years-worth of DS's baby clothes into the jumbo size bag from Lakeland and then we put it in the loft (a bit overloaded).
Anyway, DP now tells me the bag has burst in the loft. Obviously I need to get it all down and wash it (joy) but have no space to put 1 years worth of baby clothes plus all the clothes DS is growing out of fast as well (not to mention all the age 3-4 clothes he keeps being given because he was a big baby so people assume he is therefore a big toddler...)

Lakeland do vacuum bags in 2 sizes I think and so do Kleeneze or Bettaware
