Hi

DH's step-mum's Mum (if you follow) will be 100 next month. We are going to UK for a party for her along with lots of other family. Looking for ideas for a present - a token really as we are contributing towards cost of some family from US coming over (great-grand children who she has never seen).

Her grand-daughter in US is putting together a photo-montage of some sort and we have sent photos for that.

Any other ideas?

Thanks Wembley and Cod

Like the paper idea but not sure she would "get it"!

She's very frail, had a couple of strokes, almost blind and deaf (old age is cruel if you ask me as she is still very bright).

But the paper thing gave me an idea - have somewhere seen you can get a copy of a paper from your exact birthdate - may try that.

Thanks cod - wasn't ignoring you - had to get DS out of the bath then haven't been back online.

The "talking" books idea is a good one - will check if she has one already - I can't remember.

How about a little hamper with all her favourite goodies in - biscuits, choccies, wet wipes, perfume. My Nan used to love that sadly she didn't quite make to 100 oh and a frame for the telegram from the Queen :)

Thomcat · 27/04/2006 20:48

Why wet wipes in her hamper? Actually - no, I don't want to know. {smile]

Moving on...........

How about a photo alblum filled with scraps from her past right up to the present day?

Alipiggie · 27/04/2006 20:52

LOL guess I was just remembering my Nan - love the idea of the memory book.

Thomcat · 27/04/2006 20:54

Your nan = wet wipes
Mine = sucking X strong pepermints, with no teeth, throughout the night! She kept spare one wrapped up in a little bit of tissue under her pillow!

Is \link{http://newspapersremembered.co.uk\this} what you wanted Buda?

BudaBabe · 27/04/2006 21:35

Yes Wembley - that's great - thanks!!

Will sound out MIL to see if anyone else has mentioned doing the same thing.

TBH I am a bit worried the excitement of the whole thing will be a bit much for her. Huge party planned. Telegram from Queen organised by MIL. People flying in from all over.

And my best memory of her was at our wedding in 1995 up dancing to the Clash!!!
