First birthday present for dd who already has all ds' old toys!

DD is 1 in June.

Ds has already been spoiled by grandparents we already have all the "traditional" first birthday presents (walker/ride on car/farm etc) so I'm reluctant to get yet another "big" toy. What would be an alternative keepsake for her first birthday?

how about a little charm bracelet?
clothes?
a nice teddy?

BettySpaghetti · 27/04/2006 12:51

A wooden dolls house that you can add to over the next few years?

mcmudda · 27/04/2006 12:53

Probably not clothes - something she (or we) could look back on would be nice. Like the idea of a doll's house - lots of mileage in that one. Charm bracelt would be good too if I could find something really special.

What about something which will be of use to her once she's an adult? Something like a memory box?

hi there why not a beautifully hand made and hand painted toy box for all those toys and can be painted in a design to suit you and can also be personalised with name, DOB, or any other special message.

How about a really lovely storybook you can write in and keep?
Bought DD a book of nursery rhymes for her first Christmas, and DS1 a Shirley Hughes anthology. Still look at them now.

Find out what she likes most and get it, it doesn't have to be big, just special for her.

DS has been spoiled rotten (in terms of toys) by friends and family. So, knowing how much he loved Mini's I got him one for his second birthday and took him to the local Mini car dealer.

If you could see the look in his face when he found his £3.50 mini!, even being a relatively shy boy he couldn't help it and went to explain to the waitress that he had got a Mini as a present. Now, in the car dealer... he thought he was in heaven! :)
