Why are there so many second hand Ford Fusions for sale?

We are looking at Ford Fusion but bemused why there are so many for sale. Are they crap?

Not crap but ugly and a more basic level of finish. That said they are reliable, good sized boot and good sized back seats for a car of its size.

I fancied one but dh said no. Model replaced by B max now. Looks a bit like an old Escort estate.

Ford do all sorts of deals on new cars. Workers get them cheap and can often keep them a couple of years and sell them and get what they paid.
Many are leased, BIL leased one cost £x a month just add fuel, then after 3 years give it back, this can create a glut as you have seen.
To be honest I am not a fan of the Fords and would rather have Jap or French cars

Its becasue they'll be ex motobility cars. So after 3 years the person gets a new car.

I got a 3yo ex motability one a couple of years ago. Yes its ugly but it fits all my camping stuff in the back, my greyhound loves the boot space and I can fit my dad's wheeled zimmer frame in the boot....not all at the same time!

Viva - I don't care what it looks like - did you like it to drive? Was it easy to park? I've just had an old focus which I loved. The height of the fusion for parking concerns me (bit of a shit parker)

The average age of a Fusion driver seems to be 70.

Discordant - we're also looking at Honda Jazz's and believe me, I've yet to see a young person get out of one of those!

I've still got it and its fine to drive. Its never going to be an exciting, sporty ride but its not sluggish either. Seems quite responsive, comfy ride. I find it fine to park, I think been slightly higher up helps you see more, both for parking and driving.

Mine's an ex motability one. I wanted a car that was 3yo so I think all the ones I saw were. But at least you know they've been well serviced, looked after.

If the choice is fusion or a jazz, I would go with the jazz every time. I have had fords, and Honda and not had any big bills with either, but the Honda will hold its value better and I would say a slightly better car.

Pmgkt - I agree about the Jazz v Fusion. I think they are both good bets but the Jazz does hold it's value.

That's the problem - even second hand they are pricey. To get one with low mileage, and not too old, I'm looking at over £6500. A couple more K than the fusion.

I've seen a 2003 Jazz with v low mileage but can't decide whether it's worth getting a car that old.

If the jazz has a full service history I would go with it. It's not as if the fusion will look newer or better as we both agree they are ugly.

Have you thought about Nissan notes as well?

Fusions have the heated front windscreen which swung it for me.

I'm sure some wont be. I think all the ones I looked at were but probably because I was looking for a 3yo car which ties in with how long their lease period is.

If you do get one ask the garage to show you the secret compartment under the passenger seat. Someone on mn told me about it. But the bloke in the ford garage had never heard of it and told me there wasn't one after having a good look. I found it when I got home, nearly drove back to show him as I was so excited.

Parking sensors are cheap and not difficult to fit, ours cost under £20 on Ebay
