Can I offer people items for free here?

I have 2 or 3 baby items that I want to get rid of. They are in very good condition and I would love them to go to people who want them rather than just passing them onto charity shops, etc.

Am I allowed to ask on MN if people want them?

I am not asking for any money other than the postage BTW.

I gave my maternity belly belt thingy away a few weeks ago to bogwoppit.

I didn't ask permission if I could do it....should I have?

Tissy · 12/01/2004 20:22

I don't look at the noticeboard very much, tend to go straight to active conversations, so not sure how much response you'd get (though I suppose you could always post a message directing people to the noticeboard).

I've suggested in the past that it would be a good idea to have the noticeboard linked from this page- maybe we should think about it again?

JanHR · 12/01/2004 20:28

Tissy, I am nthe moderator for the noticeboard and redirect people to the talk boards as necessary

Hulababy · 12/01/2004 20:29

I never really go to the noticeboard so thought it'd get a better response on here. Shall I just go ahead then?

Agree noticeboard would be the best place but it seems to be tucked away round a corner. Maybe there should be a noticeboard topic, so you could start a new one for different items? Is that what you were thinking, Tissy?

JanH · 12/01/2004 20:31

JanHrrrrrr, what do you think about a noticeboard topic for giveaways?

JanHR · 12/01/2004 20:34

It could work
You could suggest it. Email to [email protected] to suggest it or post on site stuff to see what others think.

This is what I have:

Digital baby monitor - both units, blue colour, has 20 digital channels (avoids interfernce), has clock, has temperature gauge for baby's room, etc. Is a Mothercare one. Bought it for DD who is now 21 months so not old and in perfect condition. No proper box but I may be able to find the instructions.

Grobag - pink and white check, age 6-18 months, 2.5 tog

2 x fitted terry cot sheets - mothercare, cream, one used one, one never used - but unwrapped and not in bag

Can I ask about the baby monitor? I can send you a Postal Order for the postage if you like?

Portable booster highchair seat - mothercare, plastic, uses a 5 point harness (not included), fastens round most dining chairs; similar to this but different colours I think.

May have some bits of clothes too but not been through it yet. Most clothes have already gone but found a bag when tidying the other day.

I will try and work out rough postage prices tomorrow too.

What happened there?

Hulababy · 12/01/2004 20:41

Ooops, how did that post before I finished?

Pie - ask away. It is your if you want it. It wasn't a cheap one so good quality. I will have to weigh it to find out how much it'd cost postage but I am sure it'd be a whole lot less than buying one. A cheque or whatever if just fine. I will weigh tomorrow if that is okay.

Thanks that would be great. I go to the Post Office every Thursday, so I can send you what you want then just let me know, thank you, its very kind of you to offer these things.

popsycal · 12/01/2004 20:44

pie · 12/01/2004 20:45

Oh I'm getting all excited now

Hulababy · 12/01/2004 20:46

I will try and sort it all out and find the instructions for you - I am sure they are in the box on top of the wardrobe. I should be able to get it boxed up and posted on Friday. Don't worry about the money until I have posted it and found out eactaly how much, etc.

OP posts:
pie · 12/01/2004 20:52

Umm...ok, if you're sure. Is your email still the same one that you used for the swap?

Hulababy · 12/01/2004 20:53

Yes it is pie. Just send me your address and I will sort it out this week, all being well.

Hulababy - I'm interested in the Grobag - dd2 (4½ mths) has started kicking her blankets off in the night!

Get in touch through mumsnet if it's still available.
