Any ideas of what to buy for a new baby girl?

I only want to spend about a tenner. Sounds easy enough but the new baby in question has a 20 month old sister who i'm sure has EVERYTHING!

how about something personalised like a teddy with her name on or something?

tortoise · 11/04/2006 21:57

Something just for her like a teddy.Wont be a hand me down from her sister then.
Or a book.

what about some nice baby smellies like Little Me or something like one of the tops that Blooming marverllous do with the year on.

Bellie · 11/04/2006 21:58

no experience to share, but I would imagine that as the seasons will be different for 'hand me down' clothing, a pretty outfit will be well received??

Milliways · 11/04/2006 21:58

Set of books?

Her own new soft toy?

Bozza · 11/04/2006 21:58

I think a book is good - parents probably read all big sister's books 1000s of times so they'll appreciate it too.

TicTacsMum · 11/04/2006 22:09

Thanks for replies. Want to steer clear of soft toys as we were given tons when dd was born. Not sure what to do with them all.

Like the idea of books - I wouldn't have thought of the repetition issue!!

Just done calculation and big sis is actually 22 months so they will probably manage ok with big sister's clothes.

Not sure about the smellies. Don't think they'll be using products on the baby.

Thanks to all.

we were in the same boat when DD2 came along - she ended up with pressies that I didn't know about or couldn't afford for DD1.

She got a taggy (pushchair one is under £10) and loves it. I did appreciate new clothes too - as it felt very strange putting her in DD1's things. Also found that I'd misplaced lots of things like vests and had passed on loads of outfits (many more than I had thought) also sleepsuits etc shrink.

Though, would have been very happy with some nappys and formula - becomes expensive when you've got two in nappies and still on bottles.

I think you could get a good quality book for £7-8 and maybe a soft book or buggy book for just a couple of quid that will be more immediately in use.

Agree with you about the soft toys btw. We had a DS and then a DD so most people went for the option of little outfits but we still ended up with a ton more soft toys.

what about those imprint kits - where you can make an impression of baby's hands or feet?
