Why can't we buy alternative (bleeped?)/radio versions of songs & CD's in shops???

Am sooo fed up of me or family liking a song, only to find "explicit content" stickers on box. If the radio can play one version why can't we buy that version??

DS loves Green Day & wanted to buy some sheet music - & even that is X rated so he can't have it.

Grrrrrrrrr

why not buy the sheet music and tippex or similar out the offence before giving it him?

Milliways · 11/04/2006 12:47

I considered that! The actual music part is out anyway, but there are pages at the front of the handwritten lyrics in all their glory, and I don't want to spend £15 on a book that I have to deface.

Also, kids bought me the James Blunt CD recently, not noricing the sticker (no-one pointed it out to DD at the till) so played in unawares until DH came storming in "what was that " etc & turned it off. The radio versions are edited so why can't we have choice to buy an edited CD?

The singles are often the edited versions, though aren't they? Or have times changed.

I remember buying The Beautiful South's 'Don't Marry Her' as a CD single and it was the version they played on the radio. My sister bought the album and the version on there was full of swear words.

alternatively can you download only suitable tunes assuming that not all are parental advisory

Milliways · 11/04/2006 13:06

Yes, DH has already downloaded some songs for his mp3 - but it's sooo frustrating :(

I don't want to stop anyone who enjoys that sort of music / lyrics etc. Would just like the option to buy the versions that have already been produced for public broadcast.
