Hi my friend is expecting and lives in a V.rural area (the kind with few proper pavements) and is looking to buy a really good 3-wheeler which can go for long walks on the hill paths and beaches when she goes out dog walking - anyone got any that they like that i could suggest she looks at?

Thanks

Cheryl

I've been very pleased with my Mothercare Urban Detour which I bought four years ago. It was the top of their range at the time which came out well in the Mother & Baby awards ......but suspect they've changed all the names/models since.
We are rural too and it's great on rough paths and beaches & easy for walking two dogs. It's a dream to push & lasted really well. It's not too bad for lifting in and out the boot (but we do have an estate) but I use the Maclaren for nipping in and out of shops. The Mountain Buggy always comes out well in reviews .......but at a price!

Little NIpper
very easy to push, accomodates 2 large boys if you use a buggy board and strong as an ox and plenty of carrying space

yes we have the Instep nipper and it is very good.

(not getting rid of hte kids just they are getting bigger)

I have a Mothercare Urban detour (bought off someone on here :) ) and I'm v pleased with it - city living, though.

Love my Jane Powertrack 360.

Bramshott · 11/04/2006 16:10

I love my XTS Twister which has a swivel wheel at the front for going on the road/pavement (but you can lock it for going off-road).

Enid · 11/04/2006 16:15

yes the xts used to be called the boogie, we live in a proper rural area and its fab, simple strong design.

tell her to go down to halfords and buy some inner tube protector stuff too as you invariably spend half your time with blackthorn punctures if you live in the country

Had a Quinny which was really nice for young baby as it had reversible seat, suspension and lay flat, similar to the Freestyle 3xl but without the swivel wheel. Could also attach a carrycot or Maxi Cosi car seat. Bit heavy to get in and out of a car but great for terrain walking.

I had a mothercare urban detour and it was fantastic!! took it everywhere...well almost. We love the outdoors so it went hiking, to the seaside lon the beach and over the dunes like a mini landrover. ds2 loved it when we went over the rocks and on narrow paths as he would be pushed on an angle and getting bumped around, just used giggle endlesly. It was really good round the shops too.
Many treasured memories with that pushchair.

Only one gripe is that it had only two seat positions laying down or sitting up. Though we balanced that aginst the price of other three wheelers so it worked out.

the mountain buggy is expensive but is well worth every penny.

I know and have used several that are now 5 - 6 years old, that still have years of life left in them.... depsite being "properly" used all of thier long lives, and with a kiddie board on the back

the one we have at work is nearl 6 years old.... would do another 2 children at least.... its been properly used.... we have massive garden, then woods, then climb down a tree (sort of drop buggy down the drop Wink) onto the pebble beach.... PROPER stuff

cant recommend them highly enough!

The Nipper is fantastic.
