Now DS is getting bigger I'd like to get a backpack carrier so we can get out walking. Can anyone recommend one please.

TIA!

We have the bushbaby one and like it. I found that it worked well for both my dh (6 foot tall) and me (5'3"). The straps supported the weight well, and it has a good compartment for all the extra gubbins that you need to carry around. We tried quite a few before we settled on that one. I found that many had the shoulder straps set too far apart for me to be comfortable. The one disadvantage is that there is no 'kickstand' to make the pack ultra stable when you take it off but babby is still in it. HTH

Has anyone tried the Little life baby back carriers from John Lewis?

Has anyone tried the Macpac ones?

I have an ergo classic backpack. It doesn't have a frame. It is the only backpack carrier I have tried which is actually comfy to use. I have struggled with others after a short time, but can carry DD2 for ages in the ergo.

I have a Macpac possum, and for a framed carrier it's an excellent model, but I actually think you'd be better off with something like an ergo or a Mei Tai. A framed carrier will be heavy (ours is about 2.3 kg), and expensive. An ergo will be half the price, v. lightweight and comfier as it'll hold your lo closer to your back. You'll be able to use it on your front too. A Mei Tai could probably be found for under £40, and is my favourite of all the above carriers. If you're not sure, hire one before you buy. Also consider the patapum which is very similar to the ergo. Look at these sites for sling hire:

Sling hire should be about £10.
