just wondering, as my dd 2yrs 3mo has outgrown her smaller one (she is very petite) and wondering if to get a new one.

When its in the wash we use a fleece similar to a babygrow on top of her pjs.

My 2yr 8m old DS is still in a Grobag and cot. He sleeps like a dream so why mend it if it's not broken so to speak. He gets very warm at night so sleeps in sleepsuit and 0.5 tog Grobag. We plan to move him to a bed and PJs when he's 16 Grin.

Kept dd in grobag til she was 3 and a bit-ish. She went into her big bed in it -- then we eased her gently into a duvet without probs. Very good, no nighttime roaming Grin, which is fine by me.

If you're thinking of buying a new one, try TK Maxx. They quite often have them in there for £10, and they sell really well on E-bay as they're rareish.

Ds2 is 33 months and still in love with his grobag - it's the only thing he seems really attached to, so I'm looking at ordering one from the States to see him through this summer as he's growing out of his current one (plus its too warm for summer). I can find winter tog ones for older children here, but no summer ones.

thanks for all replies!

i loved using it when she was little, and have continued out of habit. But any ideas why its better than using the fleece sleepsuit on top of Pj's?

My DS is 19 months old. We've used Grobags and would like to keep using them. Only problem is that he unzips them and takes them off so no point in getting the next size up.

eidsvold · 09/04/2006 23:22

yep - especially a winter weight one as dd1 will not keep the covers on.

We used them up to 35m. DS moves a lot and without a grobag he just gets the blankets off and then awakes in the middle of the night because he is cold or worse than that, wakes up caughing. He is now using fleece pijamas, not because the pijama is doing a better service but because we found it a bit odd to allow him to sleep in a grobag beyond 3ys old (besides, I think they don't do the ones for older children anymore)

hi my ds1 stopped using grobags when he was 10mths old as he could move about the cot and standup and i felt that it was safer to put him into a fleecy pyjama thing that looks like a tellytubbysuit. he loves it and still uses them so no wories about the cold. when he started to undo it wwe turned it back to front too.

My DD is 22 mnths and I still use the grobag -I have no intention of stopping as she recognises the bag as the "time to sleep" signal, however, when she wakes up in the night she just takes it off and hops over the side of the cot then comes to find me Sad still it is quite cute that she just sorts herself out - Miss Independant Grin

My 34 month old still uses one. She fastens herself in w/the poppers. She loves it and brings it out w/her in the morning to lay on the couch in it.

I got it from JoJoMaman.

Cherylynne · 18/04/2006 14:32

ds 1 recognises the tellytubbysuit as bedtimes too and i had the popping into see mum problem in the middle of the night too. - quickly got a stair gate put onto ds1's room door - now he has a wee play in his room then goes back to bed which is cute.

ProfYaffle · 18/04/2006 14:35

turning it back to front! Genius! DD has just started undoing her Grobag and wriggling out. We will have to try that.

lua · 18/04/2006 14:40

My DD is 3.5 years, and would not hear of retiring her bag!
I kept with it, because I wanted to make sure she wouldnt't try toget out of the cot (she stayed in there until 2 Blush)!
But nowadays is mostly that she loves it and prevents us from waking up every hour to fix her blankets!

secur · 18/04/2006 14:43

LOL, my dd dosn't need to undo hers - she is just very flexiable - and she can climb over stairgates too Wink (which is why we got rid of the one at the top of the stairs - near heart faliure once was enough lol!)

Cherylynne · 18/04/2006 14:45

the grobags are cute and i have loads of pals that stil use them with their 2.5 bubs but mine was so much bigger that he needed one that was about a foot too long for him when he was 1 - which is why we went to the tellytubby suits. He climbs out of his cot and clombs back in and plays with a blanket - but he's not cold. the back to front thing makes them look even more like tellytubbies - especially at night when their bellies are full:o
