I'd like MIL to get me one but not sure whether they are recommended for newborns

You can get ones specially for newborns. Because their skin is so sensitive cotton or natural fibres are best (my little one has eczema so know a bit about this!). I went on to kiddycare.com to get mine and I got a letter through to say they're doing a 2 for 1 deal at moment so may be worth you checking out!

there is another thread about this atm.

They need to be a certain weight (7lb I think?) minimum.

Chloe55 · 03/04/2006 13:10

I found them too bulky for my ds when he was first born and he was a good weight at 9lbs 10oz but I always put him in them now and started doing so when he was about 4week old so I think they are worth it even if you start to use them in a few weeks time. My ds used to like to be swaddles at first too so they weren't really appropriate for him.

swaddled!

I think the weight for grobag brand 0 - 6 month is 10ib.... there extra small (newborn?) size they need to be 6ib

this is to stope them wriggling down and suffocating themselves in them

Seona1973 · 03/04/2006 19:59

the 0-6 month grobag is suitable from 7lbs. \link{http://www.bumpto3.com/666.aspx\bumpto3 size/tog guide}

Sorry i stand corrected!

Also accoring to that official grobag site they dont seem to make a make newborn size anymore.
