We are in the middle of an extension at the moment and I want to have sky in more than 1 room, so far the electician has put 2 arial wires, 1 sky, 1 normal tv into the lounge. Will I have to have 2 wires in each other room as well or is there a way of using just 1? if so could have has just 1 in the lounge as well?
Thanks...

www.avforums.com

There are a LOT of people on there with knowledge of sky, thats where I always post my questions.

iota · 31/03/2006 13:11

BosworthBear · 31/03/2006 13:25

ours isn't connected to a phone socket .... You need a Sky point and plenty of electrical sockets for the box, tv etc

iota · 31/03/2006 13:43

I believe that part of the deal with Sky is that you have a phone line connected to it. We had to have one put in when we got Sky in an upstairs bedroom

What is the purpose of connecting my Sky box to my
telephone line?

We ask our customers to connect the Sky box to an operational land-based phone line so that you can make the most of our Sky Active services (email, banking, games through your TV). You cannot connect a mobile phone to your Sky box; it must be a land-based phone line.

LIZS · 31/03/2006 13:47

We don't use their interactive sevices !

The connection to the phone line is in the T&Cs:

Other important points about your Sky+ Contract • You must keep your telephone line (which must be fixed, operational) connected to your Sky+ Box for at least 12 months from installation (if installed by Sky) throughout the Minimum Term. You must let us collect information through this line, including your telephone number (caller line identification or CLI). • While your Sky+ Box is connected to a fixed and operational telephone line, information may be passed from it to us and vice versa by telephone. Please have a look at our Privacy Policy in the Sky+ terms and conditions for details on how we can use such information.

iota · 31/03/2006 13:54

Other important points about your Multiroom (extra Sky digital) Subscription • Each Multiroom subscription you take out can only be viewed at the same Address as your first Sky digital subscription. • The Box used to receive your first Sky digital subscription must always be connected to a fixed and operational telephone line while any Multiroom subscription is in place. All the Boxes used to receive your Multiroom subscription(s) must also be connected to this line and number and you must let us collect information through this line, including your telephone number (caller line identification or CLI).

Did you want to watch the same sky channel as in the other room or a different channel

we have an ariel socket in our bedroom and we can watch sky, but its the same sky channel as down stairs.

ernest · 31/03/2006 15:26

Zou can get a sender from an electrical shop that will send the signal to another room and it's wireless, so you don't need extra wires, would this do? Costs about £70

LIZS · 31/03/2006 17:53

ah we don't have Skyplus, nor was it installed by Sky !

Yorkiegirl · 31/03/2006 17:57

when we had a new aerial fitted the aerial man put wires in so that sky came to the telly in the bedroom via channel 6 and the aerial wires.

BosworthBear · 02/04/2006 20:21

I don't want to watch a different sky channel, I just want to be able to watch the same one in different rooms. I have an aerial in the bedroom but can only see sky through a digisender upstairs, since I want to be able to see it in the kitchen as well and have got the buiders in I thought that I would get it wired properly - hence the question I posted! Still not sure of the answer though!!!
