I want to send her my thoughts and she will probably be sick of flowers by the end of the week.

Is a pampering set insensitive? I really have no idea, any help appreciated.

Do you think a Photo frame for a picture of him and a candle to put by it?

When my dad died a good friend sent me a really lovely locket, with room for a photo. I was 20 at the time and treasure it now

Thats a beautiful idea but i'm afraid she sells and makes Jewellry.

A photo frame and a candle would be a lovely idea fairy, i would have appreciated something like that when my Grandad died.
Also, maybe a journal or a scrapbook for her to record her thoughts and feelings in, then when she is feeling down, looking back on it will help her realise what a wonderful person he is.
She is lucky to have such a caring friend.

Thanks Scrumpty, i'm not that good a friend as i should be with her, not sending her a gift. Anyhow, i've just found \link{http://www.bombayduck.co.uk/bbd/store/product_details.jsp?pid=2354&cid=199&brc=&red=product_list.jsp?id=199,mid=-1,oby=,hos=0,srs=-1,txtSearch=,cmbPriceStart=-1,cmbPriceEnd=-1,page=1,brc=,\this} and \link{http://www.bombayduck.co.uk/bbd/store/product_details.jsp?pid=2355&cid=199&brc=&red=product_list.jsp?id=199,mid=-1,oby=,hos=0,srs=-1,txtSearch=,cmbPriceStart=-1,cmbPriceEnd=-1,page=1,brc=,\this}

Or, i was thinking maybe a keepsake box for her to keep memories of him \link{http://www.bombayduck.co.uk/bbd/store/product_details.jsp?pid=996&cid=2&red=search_results.jsp?cmbCategory=2,dspimg=YES,txtSearch=,txtSearchNameSKU=box,txtVariationSearch=,cmbPriceStart=-1,cmbPriceEnd=-1,cmbManufacturer=-1,page=1,searchType=-1,\i.e}

Book of Poetry? Sensitively selected, of course!

fairyfly · 30/03/2006 17:11

I have an allergic reaction to poetry.

Unfortunately though, Fairy, circumstances don't always permit for us to be as supportive as we want to be, but by doing what you're doing, you're showing her that you care, and enough to send more than flowers, which you're probably right, she's sick of seeing now. Beautiful things on those links, too!

Thanks Scrumpty Smile

I would have been overwhelmed by a little gift, what a kind thought

welshmum · 30/03/2006 18:09

Did you know her father at all fairy? If so I think a letter with some of your memories of him - especially mentioning what he thought of his daughter, if you have a sense of that. Some people wrote to me after mum died and those were the letters I treasured most. I was also sent a rose tree to be planted in her memory and I love to see that flower every year now....in her favourite colour.

fairyfly · 31/03/2006 14:58

No i didn't know him enough to warrant that, only seen him at parties etc, glad you all got comfort off things though. tc.
