Apart from Clarks ..where is the best place to buy kids's shoes in Edinburgh?

John Lewis is good - they do Clarks, Start Rites etc - and there are a couple of places in Bruntsfield and up by Bristow Sq and the Uni (can't remember their names off the top of my head).

Shoo is on Teviot Place (opposite Bristo Square/old Medical School)

and Russell & Bromely on Princes St usually have a good range (although their staff can be a bit rude imho)

Good luck Smile. The best shoe shop I''ve ever come across is in Linlithgow - a bit far out, I know, but if you're ever fancy a day out at the loch and palace, pop into Morrisons. They have the most helpful staff, in a real, old fashioned shop with a fire and sofas! Lovely shoes from Start Rite and imported from Europe, excellent quality, and no more expensive than John Lewis.

I was going to say Shoo, too. Nowhere in Bruntsfield any more- there was a Nippers offshoot but it closed a few years ago. I quite like the service in Russell and Bromley, but I guess it's the luck of the draw :)

We used Jenners when still living in Edinburgh - alwasys found them good.

Another vote for Shoo(s?) in Teviot Place - they only seem to stock Startrite though, but good for my children who seem to have v narrow feet. I have been to John Lewis and R and B several times and come home empty-handed, very frustrating, but Shoos always seem to be able to produce something that fits and is acceptable to the child. Even took a pair of 2 month old Startrite school shoes back to Shoos yesterday because some stitching was coming undone, and they just gave us a new pair there and then - brilliant Smile But you need to watch out for the traffic wardens!

Not quite on the doorstep but there's a fab shoe shop in Stirling called Stomp. Does start-rite and all the usual but also some beautiful Italian shoes such as primigi. Not much more expensive than Clarks and the staff are wonderful.
