Does anyone know about Rayburn or Stanley for cooking and heating?

I have to choose in the next week whether we are going to get a (gas fuelled) Rayburn or Stanley to do our heating, hot water and cooking on. There isn't much difference in the price as Stanley have an offer on at the moment (they are usually the more expensive one).

I have been told that they are quicker and generally a better performer but is this true? I really prefer the look of the Rayburn (and it's dimensions fit our kitchen better).
Any thoughts gratefully received!

My parents had a Rayburn and loved it. It was so cosy in the kitchen, and heated the water brilliantly. Can't comment on a Stanley, I'm afraid!

This is my last ditched attempt at a bump (for today anyway).

We had a Stanley at our previous house, and it did all our heating and water very efficiently and economically. But I found I couldn't cook on it as when in cooking mode it made the kitchen area unbearably hot, it was old and its temperature gauge had broken so I had no idea what what temperature the oven was. Having said that, the kitchen was a galley style one with the Stanley at one end, right by the working areas. If your kitchen is big enough to absorb the heat I think one would be fine.

Our kitchen isn't huge (although large enough to fot a small dining table in) but the main problem is it is directly in the middle of the house with no external windows (although still able to get ventialation). We've been told that it will be very hot in summer but don't tend to use oven much then - and with the Stanley we were told that when we do want it it will heat up from cold quicker than a Rayburn.
I just prefer the look of the Rayburn, and it fits into the space better (the Stanley would have to stick out of the units by 6cm). I don't like the fact that the Stanley has round lids on a rectangular hotplate (and it leaves an exposed gap of hotplate at the front, just right for small fingers).
But I do feel that if the Stanley is going to perform better then I ought to get past kitchen vanity.
