you could just cut up a fleece throw into wipe sized pieces.... 1 fleece throw (had some in asda last week for less than £3) would make LOADS

they can be washed with anything!

also other people use the ikea flannels where you get loads for a £1 ish

Yes, my eyes mist over when I contemplate how much money I've saved by not using disposable wipes.

You don't need to buy special ones, just either make your own (I used an old brushed cotton sheet, cut into squares and zigzagged the edges on the sewing machine; old t-shirts work well too) or buy a load of cheap flannels from Ikea or a pound store. Some people use fleece (buy a metre or two and cut up into squares) which has the advantage of not fraying. But not tried it myself, so can't comment.

You wet the wipe under the tap, do the business, and chuck into the nappy bucket with the nappies. Much more effective at removing poo than disposable wipes, which just tend to glide over the mess.

excellent. don't have ikea in ni yet and the nearest asda is an hour away :o but will try and get fleece from a local material shop. thank you.

I still have my Ikea face wipes, didn't use them on bums but they get used for all sorts of houshold tasks and still goind string.

Try Tescos value range for Face cloths, but agree any old towel cn be ripped up and trimmed every now and then to control fraying.

goind string translates as GOING STRONG

I have jsut used a an old towel cut up and edged with some zig zag stitching as well as some extra strong j cloths - have been using them for over 2 years now and still going strong - on 2 bums.

I make up a mix of 2 cups boiling water, two tablespoons baby wash ( whatever you use) and a tablespoon of olive oil. Mix it together in a plastic container... I use my old huggies/pampers one ( used for one set of disposable wipes) and then throw the cloths in - ready to go - when they are cooled of course.

have also used steeped chamomile tea or some natural calendula soap and water.

I got some from WahMall - but all the ideas on here of how to make your own are wonderful. I would recommend facecloths or towelling as being the best for removing, erm, stickier substances.
