houses get smaller appliances get bigger - anyone out there fit those showhouses out?!

Boring I know but I can't understand it we have an average to small size kitchen. When househunting a lot of the new houses were even smaller than this house.

So what I would like to know is, where can I find a replacement fridge that will fit into the small area alloted to one in our kitchen? All the small ones are too wide or too deep where do the showhouse people find those kitchen appliances to fit in and still look a normal size?

Me thinks I will have to go "househunting" again and take a closer look.

You have to buy the special narrow fitting size. We have a dishwasher like that. Bet they are dearer than the standard size ones though

Standard width for most white goods is 600mm (60CM). Showhouses now regularly fit using appliances of around 500. You do just need to measure the gap and then go look for that width. They can be a bit more expensive - however Fridges are better than most as a lot of apartments need narrower fridges.
If you go to somewhere like the Comet website it lists all the widths of the fridges and depths etc. Is it just the width that is the problem or is the worktop extra narrow as well - that will be more problematic - but not insurmountable

If you go to somewhere like John Lewis you can usually get hold of the manufacturers' brochures which give dimensions - Zanussi, Bosch, Hotpoint etc. Or perhaps their websites would help you find a suitable one. You may find that a retailer would have to order from the manufacturer, rather than it be already in stock at a warehouse, and are therefore less likely to find one discounted and may have to wait for delivery.

There should be a law against it IMO.

Surely it is a false representation of the versatility offered by the accomodation ? You would've thought that Trading Standards would have something to say about it.

thanks for your responses so far. Have been scouring the internet and next it will have to be the shops need one 500x500 depth and width present one fits that came with the kitchen but needs replacing urgently and the manufacturers don't do it anymore!

Will it really matter if it sticks out a bit at the front? It probably won't be as noticeable as you imagine
