charlie - I encase mine in Rigby & Peller, PrimaDonna and Fantasie usually - all good for large norks. They tend to have wider straps, which help, but are still pretty. You can get them from Bravissimo and Figleaves online I think.

Have you had your boobs measured properly?

charliecat · 13/03/2006 13:19

in M and S 38 e

They are not cheap, but make a big difference

M&S also do a t shirt bra for larger cup sizes which I find v comfy with good support - £20 each I think

charliecat · 13/03/2006 13:20

same size as my bloody head each sideGrin Thanks will google for those

I've found M&S a bit "off" on their measuring - do you have an independent lingerie shop near you?

biglips · 13/03/2006 13:21

yep wrong type of bra for you as your bra is supposed to be tight on your ribs and not tight on on your shoulders

need to get a new bra - i get mine from M&S

charliecat · 13/03/2006 13:23

I have a sports bra on today. Still not taking tha ache away, had an underwired one on yesterday but still felt like my shoulders were taking the weight. Dont know about independant bra shop...hmm...will think...

bravissimo's online advice for measuring yourself is pretty good - but it's worth ordering a couple of sizes as every manufacurer is different.

A common problem is buying a bra that is too wide in the back (say 38 instead of 36) and too small in the cup (say E instead of F)

charliecat · 13/03/2006 13:27

dont ask me hoe but before i was squishing into a 36 c ..so Shock 38 e does seem to fit well but just doestn take the weight.

When you are wearing the bra, the back should not ride up at all and boobs should be snugly encased in cups Grin, no overspill or gaping

If your shoulders are really hurting, it sounds as though either the bra(s) don't "scaffold" you enough or, the back is too big

I used to get the same problem a lot (I'm an F cup)

\link{http://www.marksandspencer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=8913&Product_Id=971436\this} is the most comfy bra I've found for my 'fuller figure'Wink. Not exactly the most sexy bra in the world I know but ok for everyday and gives a good shape under a t-shirt.

spub · 13/03/2006 13:58

Agree with puff. M&S are pants at measuring for larger busts. I used to be an M&S 36D and then went to my local independent lingerie shop where without even having a tape measure inthe shop, the woman (rightly) pronounced that I was a 32F. Skilled lingerie fitters can tell a lot by the size of your feet, hips and shoulders. I recommended the shop to lots of work colleagues (who kept asking if I had lost weight - LOL - just 2 huge norks lifted away from my waist!)and on average we went up 2 cup sizes and down 4 inches in the back.
You have my sympathies, BTW. I'm in my 2nd pregnancy right now and my breasts are seriously scary. By the time this kid comes out, my boobs may well be bigger than he isGrin

welshmum · 13/03/2006 13:59

Charliecat, could it be something else? I had really bad shoulder ache and got referred to a physio who told me it was all to do with holding/feeding dd (this was a year or so down the track)She gave me a couple of easy excersizes to do as I told her I had no time and now it's all gone away.
Just a thought

alexsmum · 13/03/2006 14:22

m& s are rubbish as someone said.i've been wering a 42 f from m&s , bravissimo sorted me out and am now in a 38gg and it fits so much better.
where are you? could you get to one of their shops?

chickenrice · 15/03/2006 10:33

Charliecat, I often suffer from shoulder ache too. I reckon mine is partly postural. It was a lot worse when I was working and had a desk job? Perhaps a physio would help with exercises to ease the pain? Someone recommended a bra to me once, it's the Triumph Doreen. It is quite hideous but offers good support it seems.

The back of my bra also rides up. It's embarassing! Any suggestions on how to stop this? I'm a 34G and my main problem with a lot of the bras is that the straps can be too long(even when adjusted to the max) as I am 5ft1.

Do you carry your baby around a lot? Both partner and I have had shoulder grief since we took over care of granddaughter (age 4 months). I have had this sort of thing before though and was told it was a nerve being pinched ... had physio and acupuncture.

A TENS machine is a good thing, also a really good sling has brought about a partial improvement.
