Something for him to keep in later life, I think.

I bet he'd lose the pen Smile

Bible for now, hip flask for later??? Grin

MrsBadger · 05/03/2006 21:01

age? leanings?

confirmation / bar mitzvah presents that have gone down well include the ubiquitous fountain pen, leather writing cases, watches, jewellery (mostly for girls, but cufflinks can work for the right lad), books (particularly poetry, not necessarily religious), pictures/art for walls.

must be useful or will only be put away and forgotten!

beetroot · 05/03/2006 21:06

12, Cof E

leather writing case sounds good.

Pen, to be kept in secure place perhaps?

nice watch with a bible verse on the reverse

katzg · 05/03/2006 21:10

i think you might be able to get a watch with a footprint on the dial, as in the footprints in the sand poem/verse

Earlybird · 05/03/2006 21:11

What about a nice "special" watch (as opposed to a sports watch), with message engraved on back? Or a nice wooden/leather box to sit on a desk or dresser to keep his precious things in?

beetroot · 05/03/2006 21:12

what is that poem Kat?

a box? possibly....although he does have one that he bought in Romania last year

I worked in a jewellers for a while... cuff links are lovely cos they can be worn when he's older so something to gow into rather than out of.. he can wear them on his wedding day! Either that, or 20 lambert and butler and a bottle of whisky

hunkermunker · 05/03/2006 22:53

I know he's not really old enough for cufflinks, but he can wear them for special occasions in the future - I love cufflinks though, so am a bit biased!

ma2cra · 05/03/2006 22:55

Bought my 11 year old lad a simple cross and chain when he was confirmed recently.

Wasn't sure whether he would like it, but thought it was something "to keep", surprisingly he was thrilled to bits and likes to wear it often.

beetroot · 06/03/2006 07:57

I really don't thinkhe woudl go for a cross.

a pen, watch, orleather writing case sound good....
