im interested one this summer, so bump???

Just go for a trusty old Maclaren. Jane are poor quality buggies with a popular name right now.

Johnston Prams (the UK agent for Jane) are utter crap and offer virtually no customer service, they couldn't care less about problems or repairs.

Sorry to put such a damper on this thread but this is my experience as someone who sells nursery products.

i have jane slalom and very happy, although i had no problem with it. i thought products were good:) i kept my matrix in the loft for number 2.

i have been looking maclarens but i thought they were overly priced what they areGrin
what we like, i like xt but??
i just need stroller as 3 wheelr seems too much as dd gets bigger

Sorry DM, didn't mean to offend anyone.

I'm glad you've had a positive experience with Jane. I usually see about 60% of the Jane buggies I've sold come back with with problems and broken bits (wobbly front wheel, bent brake bars, broken hand brake etc).

There are other brands which never seem to break down. It just makes me mad to see people spend so much money on sub-standard products and then have to send them back to sort out problems which should not have occured in the first place.

I don't choose the products we sell in our shop, but if asked, I always tell customers about problematic products (don't even start me on the Quinny Buzz).

Well I have a Jane Powertrack which I loved so much that I bought the Energy. I think it is excellent...no problems at all, I have had it for 18 months. Good points are the lie flat ability, higher off the ground than a normal buggy, very light. We took it to California for 3 weeks when dd was 8 months old, and it travelled very well. Nicely padded too, so good if your child sleeps in a buggy. Only negative I found was that it took a little getting used to when walking quickly (I tend to march everywhere) as I was used to being able to take a fairly long stride with the Powertack, and as with all umbrella style the wheels are that bit closer to you.

Sorry for hijack but Teaandcake, which 3 wheeler would you recommend--I need one that's easy-ish to fold & was looking at the Quinny Buzz, but sounds like you don't rate it? I don't want a Maclaren-style buggy as I find them hard to push.

Teaandcake · 06/03/2006 14:43

Really sorry, didn't mean to open a can of worms here.

Arabica, the only 3 wheeler I recommend is the Mountain Buggy Urban or the Terrain if you're a true out-doors type(I only wish I was on commision!). It is truly fabulous, very well built - we have never had one returned to us, they really are bomb proof. All other 3 wheelers just seem to be a pale imitation (again, no offence Jane owners).

Please do not touch the Quinny Buzz, it is the most rickety wheeled object I have ever touched! We have had several returned for repair since they were launched last summer - a couple had broken folding buttons, meaning they could not be folded down at all! Problems with the brakes (one customer has not even had their baby yet and had to send back their chassis with a jammed brake, then when it came back, the front wheel was broken!) It seems to be all about the look and not really about the function.

Divamummy where are you in the world? The One Tree Hill site is amazing but seems to be on the continent only. The range of colours available to us here in the UK is very limited by comparison. I wish I could get them, then I could sell far more than I currently do!

Thanks Teaandcake,
Dont worry, its nice to hear someones experience. We ve been lucky i guess:)
Im not Maclaren, if i lived in cities like London, Manchester,Glasgow whatever its different. We live isolated little village and unfortunately i dont drive, when dh is not in im out with PIls or friends. I liked the review of Energy as it said the seat is bigger than most umbrella-fold buggy, and also wheels are bigger and not to plasticky. I would appreciate if you recommend buggy for going holiday(lightish), but good on rough surface. thnx
