Pashley bikes does anyone have one?

And if so was it worth it?

I cycled to work for the first time today on my old mountain bike. Very uncomfortable. I took a pashley out for a test drive last week and though it was wonderful (pretty darn pretty too!) but was just looking for reviews really. Thanks

They are lovely bikes but are rather expensive.

For comfort, you just need a Sit Up and Beg type bike. I can highly recommend Decathlon bikes which MUCH cheaper but really do do the job: www.decathlon.co.uk/elops-3-ltd-edition-2012-id_8207698.html

I've got a Pashley Princess. TBH I haven't used it very much (combination of factors) and I think it still needs adjusting because I don't feel like I'm sitting right. It is very heavy. I haven't got the hang of the gears - again, that's me, not the bike - but it is nice to ride.

I did test drive the poppy and Britannia, both very comfy

It def the sit up and beg style I'm after. I also tried a couple of hybrids and hated them, felt very unsafe and unstable

Have you tried out a Decathlon bike though? My DH rides everywhere on one and loves it. They are sturdy and really built to last but because it's not such a well known brand over here, they are much cheaper.

I tried it in the shop showtunes, it's dh who doesnt like them. Hes the real cyclist in the house.

We got dd1 latest bike From there and she's had a fair few problems with it, I think he wishes we stayed with the Isla bike range for her

Mmm, but it's YOU who will be riding it isn't it?

I have a kid's bike from there too as I am mega tiny and it's been fine. I don't think DH has had any probs with his either. He had a fold up Dahon before and it broke ALL the time!

i've got a pashley, i've had it since 2004. i haven't ridden it loads, although i did cycle twoish miles to work and then back on a daily basis for 7 months. apparently they're quite heavy, but i find it easy to ride and comfortable. i now find 1st and 2nd gear too 'easy' so could do with doing something about that. it is loads better than any other bike i've ever ridden, particularly mountain bikes because i'm not forced to support my entire body weight on my arms!

i think it's a pashley paramount, although they may no longer be called that. it's the mens one, don't know why, just preferred the look!

I know showtunes but I actually found the parsley more comfy and lighter than the decathlon one

Fair enough. Pashley bikes ARE lush.

ifeelloved · 10/07/2012 21:18

I am still looking at others too - honest ;o)

Well I've managed to cycle to work this week (I do 3 days in the office). Cant tell you how chuffed I was that I did it. Cycle home is pretty tough as there is a hill (well a long slow slope but feels like a hill to me!). I've managed this on my old crappy mountain bike so will have another look at the Britannia and also so,e hybrids to see how I feel.

Think it's gonna have to be no to the pashley as you can't easily take the front wheel off Sad
