Barratts shoes - anyone taken any back?

Getting shoes for dd2 is an absolute nightmare. Have diligently got Clarks so far, but am fed up of them hurting her anyway. So thought I'd be clever and try Barratts. Oh hell, she's gone to school this morning with 3 plasters on one foot already Sad. The guy in the shop spent time fitting them but surely this means they must be wrong? They are a size smaller than she measured in Clarks but I'm don't feel I know what she needs anymore. Can I take them back and request they check the fitting do you think. THey cost me £18 and I can't afford to waste that amount and buy another.

You could ask them to be checked as blisters etc are not a sign of a good fit, but the size isn't necessarily wrong (Clarks measured dd as a full size and 2 widths larger than the startite shoe we ultimately boguht that fits) .

I've never taken shoes back to anywhere other than Clarks before! As you say very sore feet are not a sign of a good fit. But what rights do I have?

If it was clear you bought the shoes because they were fitted then maybe you could argue it formed part of the deal ? not sure exactly what category it might otherwise fall into though.

if the man in the shop said they fitted her then yes, you should be able to take them back

I bought a pair from barretts once and it turned into the biggest mistake of my life.
They cost £60 which I have never spent on shoes in my whole life but they were cute, got them home had a wonder around the living room and they were just too uncomfy so took them back the following weekend and was told that I could not get a refund because they had been worn even though they were not marked in anyway.
Anyway did loads of complaining, wrote to head office and finally got told the staff were out of orsed but seeing as it had took months to get a response they weren't liable for refunding as I could of worn them in between.
WANKERS

Oh my tegan, that doesn't inspire me with confidence Shock. Have to say also she's only worn them this week and they look like she's had them for years Blush - a considerable bit of polishing required methinks!

I don't hold out much hope for you.
They seem to have stupid policies which mean you can never return or get a refund.

starlover · 02/03/2006 12:44

but if someone tells you they fit then surely that forms a verbal agreement.
ie, you purchased them BECAUSE they said they fitted.
you wouldn't have bought them otherwise... i think legally they may have to refund you, but it may be hard actually getting them to!

That's my thought Starlover - oh dear I hate confrontations - won't stop me having one though Grin.
